June BC Calendar

Here is a calendar to keep track of when our loved ones leave for BC June 2011.  Stole the idea from the Leaving in March group!  I tried to go back through the site to get dates from those posted.  Help me keep it updated!  :)

Hey ElleBee! I'm so happy you got a call. Did you kids get to talk to him? How did he seem? I still haven't gotten a call after the initial two. He was very sick when his division called last week so I guess we won't hear except in letters. I'm thinking he had to have gotten getter or I would have gotten the dreaded call that he was set back. I am confident he is going to sound much better in his letter hopefully Thursday.

yes ellebee so happy for ya i know my son called for the first time last thursday he is on week 4 but is wierd cause he is graduating in 3.5 more weeks i guess there goes the push div huh lol it does get easier b4 u know it i know it will be here lol one poor friend just told me her son failed his running test the final suppose to graduate fri and now cant and cant do battlestaitons tomorrow cause he has to repeat his test thursday i feel so sry for them and him gets one to worrying on the other end  lisa robin yes postive thinking and prayer girlie is what gets us thru this back to the no news is good news thing i guess

Ricky crud is soooo common in BC!  My son said almost everyone in his div was sick at one point.  Failing the final run or float test does not mean they automatically won't PIR because they have until Wednesday to pass it and then do BS with the last group for that week (they MUST pass before they can PIR).  My son's div was the last to do BS and they had SRs with them from other divs...some had been in BC for a long time. 

If they stay at GL for BC, they are probably allowed to talk their items back with them after they move to the other side of the base.  If they fly out, then you have to take them to the airport and hand them off there.  My son was allowed to take his cell phone back to base on Friday, but it had to stay out of sight and was up to each RDC.  He was able to take an all black backpack (stuffed with his laptop & civvies) and a shoulder strapped black gym bag with his tennis shoes, flipflops, and more civvies.  Everything except his cell phone and ipod were taken from him once he hit Pensacola.  They were locked up until he reaches Phase 2 (hopefully next Monday).

Welcome, Debbie!  I've added you to the calendar using your N4M name. This site is a great group and they'll help you in any way they can.  Make sure you join your PIR group and from that group, join the discussion forum for your ship/div.  They will help fill in the blanks that your son may not write about and will give you encouragement when you are missing him too!  You are likely to receive your first real letter from him today or tomorrow.  Letter day is wonderful, but remember that if they seem upset, down or tired, those are all pretty normal responses in BC.  Hopefully you'll get a phone call next week if you don't this week.  Mine was in for over 3 weeks before I received one and some are waiting 4 weeks to talk to their SR.  Once the letters start, it gets easier.  Best of luck!  We are all here to support each other!

got the first phone call today!  actually it was a shared phone call with the girlfriend, but it was hearing his voice, and that was all that mattered.  He sounded wonderful, he sounded so positive, upbeat, and so sure of himself.  He knows his decision to Go Navy was the best he's made. I'm so happy, I need to hug someone.  lol..

i got to replay the phone call over and over, to his dad, his grandmother, my best friend, his brother, heck I'd have stopped the person on the bike riding down the street if I didn't think he would assume I was nutty and might have called the men with the straight jackets.

now this I truly understand!! Every letter I have received has then resulted in phone calls to family to relay the letter. Then I post it on her Facebook wall for her friends to keep track of (only the stuff like passing tests, doing well or any direct quotes she gives me). Then everybody at work is filled in with what is going on and then I probably would tell strangers even if they thought I was nutty! And when the men come with the straight jackets, I will tell them too!!!
