So my SR left a little over 3 weeks ago and I'm doin just fine! Yes I miss him, write him 1 or 2 letters a day, run to the mailbox every day, and I've cried once. but time is pretty much going by fast and I'm having a great summer with all my girls. Everyone on here looks like they are so depressed and lonely without their men...so I almost feel bad that I'm doing so well! Anyone else just proud of their man and enjoying their summer, free of sadness?

I teared up once. wrote letters like crazy. when i started getting them weekly it was like xmas. Im so proud of my man. he made rcpo...and graduates friday!
I'm not completely free of sadness but I'm still enjoying my time. I have a 3 year old so I can't lay in bed and cry all day! lol zbut I know what you mean, we have to go on even when we miss them
I love this!!!!  This is great....  I was very sad when my hubby was in boot camp, but I had a lot of fun too!!!  Luckily for me I had lots of friends and family to help me out.  It was a hard time becasue I swear anything that could have went wrong did.  If so many things wouldn't have happened I would have been better.  I "stalked" him at boot camp others and I would get on here and share the phone calls we were getting and the FB page really helped a lot so I already knew what was going on before he called.  LOL  it was funny.... Things are going good now, but I can't imagine our first deployment...  Thanks for the positive post!!!!
My Boyfriend has been gone a month today. I've cried a couple times but not much. I cried more before he left, lol. Only about 3 weeks till I see him at graduation. But I'm very proud of him.
yeah that's so true. i cried soooo much more before he left! i guess im just happy for him and proud and waiting it out!
This is so refreshing to read! And its nice to know I'm not the only one that doesn't get all weepy when my husband's gone. I was starting to think that I'm just a heartless witch, lol.

Do I miss my husband when he leaves? Sure do. Do I get super excited when I see an e-mail from him? You bet. Do I get sad and depressed? Nah. I have a lot of fun with my friends while he's gone, I stay busy with work, and I focus on a goal to keep me busy while he's gone, like cleaning out the closets, working on our wedding album, or training for a race. It keeps me busy, keeps my mind off the fact that he's gone. I almost feel bad because I realize I have it wayyyy easier then he does!

By the way, if you live in the Norfolk area, Operation Homefront is sponsoring a 5k on Saturday, July 23rd at Camp Pendelton (that might be misspelled). Its open to civilians and military, and all proceeds go towards our military. Its a fun way to get in shape and keep your mind off the fact that he's gone (:
I was the same way! I felt so bad that it didn't bother me, but I had a 1 year old to deal with and he pretty much kept my mind of my husband! I cried during the first call and there was about a week where I felt really sad, but other then that I was fine! Some people just deal with things differently!
I'm happy that your happy.. I was very depressed when my hubby went to boot. He is currently on deployment and I'm missing him... I have my moments where I break down, but other than that I've been keeping pretty busy and I'm trying to get a second job so I can start saving money.
okay, good to know I'm not the only one, and that I'm not heartless! I sure can't wait to see him again, though! Less than a month! :))
It was the same for me.  I kept myself as busy as I could and tried to stay strong for him, for me, and for our unborn baby.  Of course I love him to death and I miss him so much and hate being away from him, but I'm not falling apart over it.  It was way harder to give him back after see him for PIR than it was the whole 2 months he was there!  Now that he's at A school, it is even better since we get to text and talk every day.  I am looking forward to visiting him in less than a month.  He's taking it very hard being away from me, but I know he will get though it ok.  So no, you're not the only one and there is nothing wrong with ya, either.  It just means that we're especially cut out for this life, to keep going strong even when we miss them!
Sailor'sgf - You are SO not alone! I've been keeping myself SUPER busy while my husband is at BC...his PIR is 7/29 and time has FLOWN... I think it's very important to surround yourself by family and friends, and to write to him EVERYDAY he definitely needs to feel the love while he's there, and this forum is a HUGE help too!! I'm just incredibly proud of my man and excited to see him at PIR, WOOT!
My SR left Monday. I was devastated when he was here and preparing to go. Texting me in the airport before he left, etc. were TOUGH, but ever since he left I have been FINE! I find myself missing him when I do something or see something and can't tell him, but other than that it is just life as usual. I was feeling bad too- like I didn't love him as much as I should- because I was the only one doing well, but I am glad to know there are others out there like me. Time is flying! I hope it continues this way!
