While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Wow, there's traffic! Thanks to the "veteran" moms for stopping by; love your input as always! And glad to see the newer moms here, too. We're still a little green but maybe we could all learn together.
Swim, I hope your son had a good 21st! Mine had his last month; it was bittersweet--21, after all, seems to be the year when there's no question that they're adults, but being on his own, I'm sure it wasn't too fun.
PMGCakes, I'm so jealous of your upcoming trip to GC! Have a wonderful time with your nuke. I have been itching to visit but things have been so hectic. I work for a company that receives funding from the government and the staffing has been cut to 75%. I guess no time off for me for a loooong time. :(

Hi Everyone. I have not posted in a while. Heard from my son DG last night. It is his 19th birthday today and it seems so strange not the see him today. Anyway, I understand graduation is Oct. 21st. He can leave immediately for a 10 day leave and plans on coming home. I am going to look into air fare and if it is not too expensive maybe all three of us can fly out and FOUR of us can fly home! There is another test today and I hope they all do well. Does anyone know what "T-school" is? He said something about watch duty.

Joanne, T-track refers to the time that they're hold between A school and Power School. They are usually assigned various things, including watch duty. My MM's T-track is going to be just a short month in September, if that continues to hold. But grad hold is going to be something else.

Joann, is he in class 1133? If so, I'll adjust our A school grad date listed above...You might try Southwest if they fly between your city and CHS. Cheaper if you have to change the tickets, no baggage fees...might save you
a little!
so glad to hear he WANTS to come home...not sure what our boy will do...? But I would love to be there for graduation....

Swim,
1132MT. He mentioned his room mate waited a while to move out and was on watche, etc. Any other 1132's? I heard graduation was " thank u very much, here is your certificate, now move on" not worth the plane ticket from Arizona unless it is just one of us representing the family. I read in other forums parental attendance was miniscule.

My son said he didn't think we should come for A school graduation...that Power School grad was the
"big, formal graduation" for everyone. Not sure what to do, since I'm thinking if he graduates the end of October, he'll be on T track for the holidays and may not come home. Guess it depends if he plans to come home right after graduation or not, too...If you're in AZ, isn't PHX the headquarters for Southwest? Maybe you guys will find some really good deals!!!! I hope some other people check in that have kids in 1132MT, too. It is so nice having a "buddy" going through this experience. I think 1133 might be an MT class, too. Maybe since our sons graduate A school so close together, they'll end up in the same Power School class? Are the Power School classes bigger than the A school classes? smaller?

Bobby'sproudmom, the photo was originally posted by one of the kids on his fb page. He and my son were from the same division in BC and now in the same class. His mom told me about it so I stole the photo---with permission, of course. I didn't know they take class photos like this, either. But it's such a cool find!

I want to be the veteran mom. My son just started Prototype two weeks ago. Last phase of training. all your sailors are starting A School, right? Freedom will come to them gradually but at least they get their cell phones back and communication is much easier. They have alot of work ahead...A School, then Nuke School and then Prototype with grad holds in between each so it really does take almost two years from the start of Boot Camp to deployment. Relax and watch your sons and daughters Shine! It will be stressful, my son had some BP issues but he is fine now and just doing great!

Nice of you to stop by! It's always great to hear from veteran moms. I find myself reading all the other discussions from the upper levels to glean some information about what's ahead. My son's an MM so he's got just three weeks to go with A school (doing a happy dance here!). They were already told that Power starts in October, graduation for that is at the end of March and that there's going to be 8 months of grad hold..which I think seems highly unusual that they were given specific dates at this early stage.
Thank you for imparting your wisdom; I look forward to learning more about our journeys ahead.

I think the long hold times have to do with the fact that the prototype in Goose Creek is in need of repairs and will shut down some time in the near future for servicing. That is just what I have heard around N4M. My son has his long grad hold during spring and all of June and he loved it! Now I understand that he is really liking the challenges of Prototype. It is a high stress place so lots of prayers for all of our sailors in Goose Creek.
