For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi everyone.
What is the story with holiday leave from Pensacola, specifically Thanksgiving and Christmas?
I know I am jumping the gun, but it is nice to think about the holidays in the midst of this heatwave!

My son said they get 2 weeks. Either the week before and the week of Christmas or the 2 weeks after Christmas. He did not know when they'd find out which one they get.

My son got from Dec. 20 through Jan.3. 2 weeks. Nothing at Thanksgiving other than a long weekend.

While my son was in pcola last year for the holidays, he had the same leave as ChrisAmo's sailor-from the 20 the 3rd and just Thurs & Fri for Thanksgiving. This year for Xmas he is on an active base that still has to be manned at all times, so my son is being told he still gets 2 weeks, but he can't have off both Christmas & New Years. I don't understand how that works exactly since he is still part of a training squadron so we'll just have to see how that works out.

Hi,
My son is going to PIR on 12/16, then he is off to A school for AIRR, so does it work the same for everyone? He will get to either get the week of Christmas or the week after?
Or is that just up to command when he gets there?
