Uh oh...don't see how that can be.  They go in numerical order, lowest to highest.  That would make the two last divisions (241/242) go before 239/240.  Oh boy...wondering if someone is behind in training so they traded spots?
I got a letter from Boo today, she says 937 will do battlestations Mon-Tues.  She said we should get a call sometime around 4 pm on Tues. Ship 2/ Division 937.
Thanks so much, BoosMom.  Hope we have it all correct on the schedule now.  Won't be long before you are hugging that sailor girl of yours!  HOOYAH!

235/236... Give it all you have and then some!!!!

We are out here doing our thing... praying for you all!

Is there a certain time battlestations start. Mine is in 235. Just wondering what time i should light my candle!

Here's what I came up with for how BattleStations is run...

This is the final test for your SRs.  It is an overnight 12 hr drill that tests them on all they have learned and may encounter when deployed on a ship.  It takes place on the Disney-created USS Trayer, a very realistic ship that allows them to be properly evaluated in all areas.  They start in the evening and conclude the following morning with the capping ceremony.  This is where they trade their "Recruit" caps for their "NAVY" caps and they have graduated!  A very emotional time for your sailors after all of their hard work!  Later in the afternoon, you should receive the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call.  These usually start around 2 pm GL time, and can last a long time.  They can start earlier or later, so we recommend that phones be available all day long...this is one call you surely don't want to miss!  Some may not get to call because of "watch", but should call the next day.  Please ask your sailor if all in his/her division passed, and post that for the others to see.

Teamwork is the name of the game.  They are divided into smaller groups and evaluated as a team in addition to individually. This is what one Chief said about BattleStations:  150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of these may fail and have to repeat BattleStations with another group.  Teamwork is the key.  If the SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and perform well as a team, they should pass.

They go through with their brother division.  Up to 4 divisions can go through a night.  Sometimes only 2 (brother divisions) or 3 (brother divisions plus an 800 or 900 group) may go through.  They usually start on Thursday night the week before PIR.  There are no BattleStations on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup for the PIR group on Sat, a fun athletic competition for all divisions.  They can resume BattleStations on Sun-Wed nights for as many of those nights as are needed.  They start with the lowest-numbered divisions and work up. 800 and 900 divisions go randomly.  SRs have to pass all tests before they are allowed to go through BattleStations.

Ahhh, pawebdoctor.....you must have read my link above!  Thanks for reposting it for those who have not opened the link!

florida girl: It is approximately 8 pm to 8 a.m., give or take an hour or two....so light your candles somewhere in that time period!

If it lasts from 8-8, why does it take so long to get the I'm a Sailor call?
They don't allow them to make it right away.  They have their "capping" ceremony where they trade that RECRUIT cap for their NAVY cap (HOOYAH!).  Then they have their regular duties, sometimes even PIR practice first.
It must be extremely difficult for a newly "capped" Sailor to have to wait and make that important call, knowing that everyone at home is anxiously awaiting the news!

Yes, I would imagine.  They are very tired and look forward to getting that energy drink, soda, and/or candy bar to keep them going until 8 pm when they can finally go to sleep!

One guy who did not make his run before his PIR recently...so was in FIT division training for it; finally made the run on Thurs and went through BattleStations that night with that PIR group.  Did he call his mom the next day as soon as he could to tell her he is a sailor?  NOOOOOO....She happened to get on FB and saw he was logged on...messaged him to see what was up and it was then that he said he was a sailor!  She was so excited that she didn't even considered screaming at him for not calling her!  :-) The great thing is that her hubby is in Chicago for business this weekend, so he was going to drive over to GL and spend some time with their son.  So wonderful....originally, they had driven all the way to his PIR (6 hours for them) because they were told by Public Affairs that he had passed his run and was headed in BattleStations that Thurs night.  They were so excited.  The next morning, as they were leaving for PIR, they got another call from Public Affairs saying:  Sorry, we made a mistake.  He did NOT make his run and won't be at PIR.

Can you imagine?  Thankfully, they were allowed to see him for 2 hours since they were there.  There were a few more in that position who got brief time with their SRs also.

diannep-- my phone is still not ringing, lol
