My son is going to Boston on Aug 30th and shipping out on August 31st for BC anyone else going to be up there at this time? I hear they let us come up for the final swear-in and they walk out one door and we another - Bringing a box of Kleenex ;(  He'll be attending A School right after graduation at Great Lakes for DC.

Why is this summer going so fast?  If they could only stay little - but I don't care how old they get they'll always be my baby and pride and joy.  Praying for strength to get me through this but yet trying to make the most of what time we have left. (while hiding tears)

My son leaves from Dallas on 8/8 and I am entering full freak-out mode! He signed his contract last November and his departure seemed so far off in the future.

Now we are down to a month and I am feeling time getting away from us!!!

I know I'll be okay, but I also know this is going to be hard.

So, I feel you pain!

hugs~Dale

I have a blog about this Navy journey~ http://sonandsea.blogspot.com/

Momoftwosons@ Like Dale my daughter leaves 8/8 from Dallas. Back late last year it all seemed so far away but as you said this summer is just flying by.  With just 20 days left I think I am now in complete freak out!  I am trying to plan her Anchors Aweigh party, help her finish up all her Dental appointments, get her to pack her room, and just spend as much time with her as possible without being obvious that I am hovering!  I think that by the time we get to MEPS for swearing in I might have to stay in bed for a week!

Strength be with you, I too feel your pain!

I feel the same... Overwhelmed!

If it weren't for this site I would be 100% crazy.

With it I am only about 96% crazy..

;)

I think I'm going to need some Valium or something...

:O

We just put his car up for sale - it seems more of a reality now.  Having a hard time getting him to go through his stuff and get rid of junk in the room - It now is starting to feel too permanent and I cry way too quickly - but feel relieved that I'm not the only blabbering cryng mom when I read Navy for Moms.

To make it worse, my other son leaves for college on 8/27 and total empty nest within 3 days.  Praying for strength ;)

My Grandson leaves Illoins on Aug 30th 2011, to go to great Lakes.

Great sounds like he'll be in BC with my son ;) This summer is going way too fast for me.  Jim is going in for DC/Fireman and will turn 20 two weeks prior to leaving - with 2 years of college credits he is E3. I think he is now excited, anxious and nervous having been a DEPr since Feb. How about your grandson?

He is very much ready to go. I feel very lucky for him to get to go. We live in a small town and there is nothing for him here.I told him that this is his chance, so its up to him now, but Ill be with him every step of the way.

He is undesignated fireman

Just saying Hi, See you at Graduation.

My son has been working on his room - boy the stuff that accumlates.  I've yet to go upstairs to see his progress, but he claims he's doing good.  We listed his car for sale in the local paper today - He checks in every Monday with the recruiter and from time to time he pees in a cup (LOL) which I like knowing he's not tempted to party.  We're too close now.  Funny he's been very hugging every chance he sees me but at 6'3" his hugs are powerful. I try not to push him away - Knowing this will end soon.  He sees when my tears start swelling - no words are spoken ;(

I have a very good friend who's soon is out in Great Lakes now in A School. Her son Zac graduated BC mother's day weekend and she's got the hotel and info for me when the time gets closer and we get the info.  I'll let you know and I'll also be reading the Navy Mom pages too.

Anyway off to make dinner - relishing all the family time I can...... have a great day

jeanne

Jeanne I would love to have the hotel info if you wouldn't mind.  I am such a detail person it is driving me crazy not to already have our tickets bought and hotel booked!  I would also appreciate any ideas you have on motivating my daughter to get on her room.  She has started twice and just stops.  I think she is just to overwhelmed ;(

Anyway, enjoy dinner, we too have been trying to pack everything you can imagine into this short period of time we have left (August 8).  In fact it has been so bad that last night I got onto my husband for saying..."this is the last time we will ..... or we need to do ..... because we won't be able to when you are gone".  It just seems so final.

I will forward the info by next week hopefully.  I would just offer to sit with her to help organize thoughts and just start working on different 'piles'. Also, I would have her pack items she will want with her after BC.  I know the first thing my friend did with her son was to buy underwear - they can't stand the ones given to them.  Care packges in ASchool consist of video games, movies, books etc. and of course some comfy clothes for lounging and some civie clothes when they don't need to be in uniform. Things like this should be considered and hopefully something to look forward to at graduation - It is the inevitable - you can also just threaten like I do...... if you don't do it NOW - it'll be up to me and you may be sorry - LOL!

Hate the idea that they go with nothing and they are forced to buy from the Navy everything from toothbrush to mail stamps ;(  but it is what it is.   Good Luck and keep me posted how things are going for you.

Hey there,

My son shipped out the 30th from the Fargo building. My son will be. A D.C also, How are you doing. I think about my son all day long wondering how he is and what he is doing, I am sure you are doing the same.

Best of Luck, We can do this.
