FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

SWO Moms

My son graduated OCS in March and his currently stationed in Norfolk, VA.  I wondered if there was a group for SWO Moms.  Thanks.

My daughter just graduated college and will be commissioned next weekend (long story).  She will be a SWO aboard the USS Arlington - precom ship eventually out of Norfolk.  There is no ship group since it is new, so I've joined here.

Hi patsal, I am also a mom of a SWO whose first assignment was also a precom ship, which was commissioned last fall.  It was a memorable experience when we attended the ship's commisioning.  Best of luck to your daughter.

Thanks, it will be our second ship commissioning.  My DD did color guard during her NROTC days for the USS Freedom in Milwaukee.  We're looking forward to it.

My daughter is back where she started her Navy career - Newport, RI.  Three more weeks of SWOS.  She loves it there.

I can't wait for our daughter to be back in Newport for SWOS II. We fell in love with the area. Summer is a great time to be in town, hope she enjoys the stay!

My son will also return to SWO school and is looking forward to some time again in Newport. He may also be there for his friends OCS graduation which he is looking forward to - being on the other side and watching this time!

Hello everyone, My son is SWO - Nuke - assigned to a ship at Pearl Harbor - his first tour since NROTC.  After he completes this first assignment for approx 18 months, he will start Nuke school in Charleston, SC (should be sometime in 2012).

Looks like our LO will be back in February. When will everyone else coming in for SWOS be. In town?
