Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Wow how awsome! Good for you. My son left July 5 and I am waiting for that call...I carry my phone with me all the time. I hate to take a shower, because it's the only time I don't have it with me. Most of the time I just take a bath because at least then I can just keep it right outside the tub! lol...but i have to wash my hair at least twice a week! lol! Wow, what an awesome feeling for you. I have my little list of questions written down because I know i'll just get so flustered i won't remember anything. I got my first "real" letter last wednesday and I just read it over and over. I wondered if they got mail on days besides Sunday. That's good to know. I've written every day since last Monday when I finally got an address...I've wondered how many letters he's gotten. Thanks for the info.

My son left 7/5 also. I have gotten one letter (besides the form letter) but no call yet either. I had mailed 10 letters (one each day after receiving his address) but he asked that I only send one or two a week because he said there just isn't enough time to read that much mail. I just didn't want them to be calling names (or however they do it) for mail and him not have something. I haven't wanted to leave the house this week because I am sooo hoping for a call! LOL Our plan was for him to call the house phone first and my cell second, because where we live our cell signal is bad.

This was the call you got when he passed his preliminary PT test, right? When did he take it, and when did you get the call after? I'm trying to get an idea of when I'll hear from my fiancé.

I am not sure exactly what he has passed. He did say he has had three PT's and inspections so I guess that could mean he did pass the preliminary PT test. I don't know when he took it. He left on June 26 so I hope that gives you an idea and hope your call comes very soon.

i bought my daughter a card but i think she will be calling her bf more than me. I hope she at least calls grandma and grandpa. I wonder if she knows how much i miss her. I hope she got my letters. She only left Last monday and it feels like forever. I get you wanted to cry hearing his voice

Can you give me any encouraging words about boot camp...my son leaves today. Did you son say anything and by now he should be done with boot camp or can you share with me what to expect? THank you so much

Join the group, Leavin' for bootcamp in October or October Boot Camp Family. You will meet others with loved ones who left today or have or will leave this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. I also suggest you join New Moms Stop Here and check out the Pages and Discussions there. Two other groups you may wish to check out are Boot Camp Mom's and PIR Reference Information. As soon as you know your Recruit's PIR date, go to GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation) and click on the date and join the group for that.
If your Recruit pays attention, learns to keep his mouth shut except when he is to talk, gives and receives help to/from the others in his division, and speaks to those in charge of him with respect and by the proper designation (i.e.,"Yes, Petty Officer"), he will be just fine. His RDC's want him and the others in his division to succeed and if he puts forth the effort, he will make it.
