Good morning mommies :-)

I have a question regarding calling cards. It seems there are issues with some cards working better than others, how many minutes are allowed on them, and connecting issues (like 35 minutes just to get a line).....I'd be interested in hearing from you who have experienced the calling card thing from bootcamp. Any suggestions before I head out and purchase and activate one for my daughter?

Muchas gracias Amigas....have a beautiful day,

Diana

My daughter did not use a calling card from us. She had one that she got when she needed it.
Thanks Jean...but what about during bootcamp? They won't have money, time, or access to that kind of shopping will they?
Yes, they do. If they are good and pass things they get to have some free time. Some units get to call home more then others also. So they will have time to get one and call. There is only about 6 phones. If I remember right. There really is not a lot of room were the phones are.

Hi Diana,

I'm not sure you will need to buy one.  The 2nd or 3rd week the recruits get to go to the Nex and can buy a card there.  The  recruits don't always have phone privileges.  My daughter ships August 10 but her boyfriend graduated from BC just this past March and he did not purchase a calling card before BC.  My daughter did not receive any calls from him until about week 3 or 4.  You can always go on to FB's US Navy Boot Camp and can ask the question on a feed.

Best of luck,

Lisa

Thanks Lisa. Lots of good information. I may buy one anyway so my daughter won't have to hassle with it while there. That way, she'll at least have something ready just in case.
