Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ship 09, Div. 240

I received my form letter yesterday.  It was wonderful just to see his handwriting.  He has only been away for eight days, but it seems much longer.  Looking forward to graduation.

My call was very brief, like yours.  It is a scripted call with someone watching them.  He only missed by 13 seconds, so hopefully he will pass quickly.  I did a lot of research and found out the following...

They get to try every other day.  FIT will give them more 1 on 1 help, and will even run with them and encourage them along the way.  As soon as they pass they go with the next available group to battlestations and then will be sent on to their schooling.  It is the ceremony after battlestations that mean the most to them, and our boys will have that.  It also doesn't matter that they will work with other kids.  People in the past say it is still a positive experience.  They do not do PIR with another group b/c they are still technically Div 240.

If they failed yesterday, they will try again tomorrow...and if they pass tomorrow, there is another group doing battlestations tomorrow night.  Technically they could be with their group Fri, but will still not stand for PIR b/c the Navy for safety does not want to make them stand for 2 hours after a basically sleepless night

We were in bit of a bind b/c I am meeting my husband in Chicago (hes coming from a business trip) so I did not cancel everything right away.  Then I heard ...if he does pass tomorrow I will get to see him after PIR and if he doesnt, there is a very remote chance they would grant him some time with us on campus.  I say REMOTE and NOT GUARANTEED, but we decided to go anyway.  Our flights were not cancelable (from TX) and we will spend the weekend in Chicago if we dont see him

Remember- God's hand is in all, and His timing is perfect.  It not only the Navy moulding our boys, but God Himself.  Everything will be good!

Also- the Navy does not consider this a big deal.  Lots of kids need the extra help.  Hope that all helps!

I am thinking and praying for you guys as well.  Also, I read that fit mentors will run with them, show them how to pace themselves in several different ways, like starting off slow and ending fast or starting off fast and ending slow.  I also read and if you get to talk to your guys to hold their head slightly down when running and plunge forward as they move, and not to put their total foot on the ground more or less try to use the tips of feet.  I read alot preparing myself for the worse because I thought my daughter wasn't going to do it.  I printed out ways to increase speed for running from the internet.  When she called me yesterday, she said it really did help her.  But I also told her I would come up there and wear her tail out all around that track!!  The main thing they need to know is calm down, breathe, being hard on themselves only makes it worse!  I told Presley to act like she was running from a murderer and or maybe imagining some hunk of a guy was waiting for her at the end!  Like Dani said, It is all in God's hands!!  I will be thinking and praying for you and your SR's.

We just received a call from our Sailor!!!  Everyone in 240 who participated in Battlestations passed!  Congrats to all!!

Thanks for all your encouragement!  Congrats to Div 240!

I just got another call...Taylor passed his run today!!  He will do battlestations tonight and we get to see him tomorrow!  He will not march, but will be at PIR, and he was SHOCKED when I told him we were all still coming and we would see him.  It is a very good day!

dani- that is just crazy!!  All this last minute stuff is enough to drive someone crazy!! Talk about stress!!  So happy for you!!
