My son signed his contract last November and his ship out date of 8/8/2011 seemed so far away.

Now, not so much! The time is flying by! He graduates high school in early June then leaves for a church choir trip (to Chicago, no less!) and then a mission trip.

It is becoming VERY real as the days fly by. And I am feeling a distinct ache in my chest.

I like to write, so I started a blog to help me sort out my feelings.

How are you all doing as your child's departure date grows closer?

hugs to all~Dale (Ian's mom) ♥

Hi ALL!  I'm right there with you all (I just have an extra week Dale and ZZsmom).   Everyone just seems so nonchalant around here and just going about everything just as nothing is coming.  They all look at me like I'm NUTS!!!!  I have done OK not "breaking down" in front of Billy but these last couple of weeks that has been hard.  It seems like everyday there is something else that I'm saying this is the last time for that.  He has always played recreational softball in the summer (since he was 6) and last night was that last game.

At other times, I have been anticipating this for so long I feel like I just want this and boot camp to hurry up and get over with!!  I know he will still be away (he will stay in GL for A school) but at least I will be able to communicate with him other than snail mail.  So maybe I have already LOST it!!!  LOL.

I truly thank y'all for always being here and we will get thru this together!!!!  I hope you all enjoy these next couple of weeks that we have left and we will ALL be here for each other when our recruits are at BC!!!   HUGS TO ALL!!!

Susan

Susan~ Yep... I know what you mean about the "last" of things. It is making me wacky!

I wrote about this n my blog waaaay back in March. http://sonandsea.blogspot.com/2011/03/gift-of-lasts.html

I think I, too, want to get this thing going. The long good-bye is so hard!

I really have a lot of conflicting emotions!

And yes, everyone (except my N4M friends) act like I am crazy.

It is NOT like sendiing your kid to college, but that is what everyone compares it to.. Grrrrr!

hugs to you,too~Dale
