My husband and I just took our baby girl to the recruiter's office. Wow that was hard!!
But I did not cry till she was gone. That was a MAJOR accomplishment!
She has been in DEP since December 07 and has trained hard and studied alot.
She is ready and this was her decision so all I can do is support her.
We are going down tomorrow to see her sworn in again and be there when she gets on her flight.
I pray that I can hold it together for her sake atleast until I am not in her presence.
Hard day today and I'm sure it will be harder tomorrow but it is something I would not miss for anything!!

Any others have recruits arriving in great lakes on Tuesday?

Thanks Donna,

We did go to airport after swearing in ceremony. It was comforting to see that she had already bonded with two other girls from Virginia.
It made it alot easier, She was much more relaxed today after the ceremony. We talked with her and made sure the group was in the right place and knew where their gate was and walked them to it and then we left her to her new adventure.
I did ok. still did not cry in front of her which is what she was afraid of... she said if I started then she would break down. So we both held it together. All is good.
Landing in O'hare for someone that has never flown scares me but they will all be ok. She is suppose to call from airport while they are eating there. But we haven't gotten a phone call yet. Dad is a little upset but I understand that this is all new for her and she is nervous.
I do pray she calls before they leave the airport tho...... just to know she made it safely.

I do hope priscilla is doing ok as well as yourself. We raise them and teach them but we DO have to let them go sometime and trust that we did our job teaching them. Right?!?!

Thanks Again,
Carol
Donna
Thanks for your prayers... Been doing alot of that for her today. And YES I got a call.. her 30 second call. Wow that was tough!!
She said quickly she tried to call from airport and punched in a wrong number I assume that meant her calling card number I know we did have her do it from here once before she left but I'm sure nerves were very worn and flying into the biggest airport in US having never flown didn't help much.

But she's there safe and sound, God will take care of her now. She is in His very capable hands!!

This website is the absolutely best medicine for me except prayer, I'm so glad I found it!!
Hi Carol,
My son, Luke has arrived at Great Lakes today. Have you heard from your daughter? Luke called from a pay phone with a calling card around 5 p.m. tonight. None of us were home. I don't know why he didn't call my cell phone. Maybe the time change had him thinking it was later here and that we would have been home by then. At least I know he made it there safely. I just wish I could have heard his voice. Have you gotten a call yet?
Cathy,

Yes I got phone call last night! It was tough, I broke down after her call, she sounded so far away and quiet but she said she was good.
I guess I was one of the lucky ones as niether Donna or yourself received a call, I feel for you both.

Good luck and I will keep you and Luke in my prayers. Maybe they will be somewhat "together", I understand that the companies are both male and female to a certain point. I can't wait to find out her division and ship info.
Keep your chin up and remember that we too once left home and this is how our parents felt, Maybe not the exact same circumstances but we all left home in one way or another. I keep reminding myself that this was Courtney's dream and now this is HER time.
Luke's too. Somehow that makes the heartache worth it to know that this is what they wanted.
Take care,
Carol
Hi Carol,
Yes, that fact that this is what he wants and he's determined to make it through is what keeps me from getting too upset about missing his call or being so far away. Also, being 23 and still living at home or with grandparents, I'm just glad he's finally taking steps to become a man. I'm quite proud of his decision and his independence. I was wondering if he would get homesick. We'll see. I hope he can meet Courtney while he's there. How old is she? I have a Courtney also. She's 17. I will keep you and your Courtney in my prayers also. Thanks for the friend invite. I look forward to getting to know you better.
Cathy
My daughter, Jessica, arrived at boot camp on the 26th. I can't wait to receive an address for her.
