Already got the formal letter (ship out date 8/2) with some handwritten note, it is so exciting to hear from my son and now we can write him back!
Hope to hear from other moms with sailors in same ship and division.

My son is 03 /320. He left 8-1. It was bittersweet when I left him at the recruiters that Sunday, I cried for days. Then when the box came and the letter, more tears. I have written him everyday and can't wait for something from him.
Hi there, Hope you are doing better now.... we will get letters this week :))))
Graduation day is coming closer as well!!!
Hi! My son is also 03 / 320. He left 8-1. It is so nice to read that other Moms are going through the same thing I am. I didn't think it would be this hard. My goodness he has been away from home before but I have always been able to text and call him. On the few lines he got to write he said it was much different and tougher than he thought it would be. Now that really got to me! It seems every hour I'm saying a prayer for him. I will pray for all of his shipmates too! Let's hope they stay safe, strong and focused!
Yes, praying for them is the best we can do, According to comments from all the experienced mom's it is very common that most or even all the recruits go through a time where it seems especially hard on them. But by the end they are all doing pretty good, once they are used to this whole new life and can look back at what they already have achieved.
Not to get in touch with them at all is really hard, that's why it is so important to write as many letters as possible to keep those young men and women going.
Hi Sheila and Vicki in Texas, good to hear from y'all. It is nice to have contact to mom's with recruits in the same division.
There is also a group for Division 319 and 320 (they apparently train together) where you can meet lots of mom's and spouses with loved ones - go check it out.
Oh - where in Texas do you live?
Good luck to you and your sons!!!
I live in Southwest Austin - forgive me, but where is Flower Mound, it really sounds very lovely.
If we are close we should meet.
Flower Mound is North of the DFW Airport. My sister lives in Wimberly. I love that area!
Wimberly is just a 20 - 30 min drive away from where I live - if you're in the area let me know.
Did you find the group for 'Division 319 and 320' ?
Wanda / Vicki,
My son is from MS but I live in another state since a job transfer. He is older than the younger recruits since he made this decision later in life. He has lived away from home for over 9 years but it does not make it any easier or make your heart ache less. It doesn't matter what state we or our sailors are from; we are all Proud Navy Moms and our Sailors are going to change their lives and our country for the better forever. If your kids speak of the "older" guy in Ship 03 / Div 320, he's my only child. I am counting the minutes 'til 9-23-11 to see him once more before A school in CT. After that I will be counting days, months and years, as he has decided on a Navy career, and I could not be more proud or happy for him. But trust me, those Momma tears still roll big and wet even as they grow older.
Yes, you are probably very right - it never changes not matter how old they are,
Couldn't agree more with you on everything you wrote.
PIR 09/23/2011 TG 45 (Divisions 315–320 & 945)
This is the group I was talking about and when you go there you will find a group for Division 319 and 320
