For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Thanks, I have already started writing and taking pictures im jus waiting on his address. even tho I know they took his phone I still call his voicemail to hear his voice. when my 21 month daughter cries for him it reaally makes me sad thats the hardest part for me. have you.sent your letters?

Good im glad to hear that there is hope after all. I know i will feel better just not now i guess im just in shock on how much i really miss him. This site makes me feel a little better because other than you ladies no one can relate to what im going through or understand how i feel. Have you gotten your letter or phone call yet?

My advice to you is not to expect phone calls. The only one they are pretty much guaranteed is the final "I'm A Sailor" call after they pass BattleStations. Other than that they have to EARN calls they are not given them and it's at their RDC's discretion. Expect a box sometime next week maybe Tuesday, the form letter with his address, graduation date, and other info after that, and about 3 weeks from now your first real letter.

The whole phone thing really sucks but I understand. but 1 phone call is better than none. he called me the night he got there that night to bootcamp I guess they let them make 1 last phone call to let me know that he made it but he told me he was taking the battery out of his phone and that he would call in about 3 weeks. do I need to send him a calling card? is that the only way he can call?

Yeah unfortunately it's just to let you know he made it there! He will be sending you his cell phone home in his box. Yes they have to use phone cards to call and it's a very good idea to send them one, I believe they sell them at the NEX but I don't know how often or if they even get to go there. A tip from a mom on here is to activate it from your phone before you send it because it will eat up minutes and time if he has to do it there... they only give them a certain amount of time to make phone calls if they get to and you don't want him wasting any or all of it on activating his phone card! They do usually give them a 3 week phone call, mine was only 2 minutes so it can be that short, some people get a half hour. But like I said it's better to just not expect it because they don't HAVE to give it to them and it's hard enough as it is already, don't make it harder on yourself by expecting something then being disappointed if it doesn't happen!

I'm a rookie navy wife also. When my husband went to boot camp I didn't really know what to expect. It was very difficult but I agree with the others, it does get easier. I wrote him everynight about anything and everything. I just made me feel like we were having converstations and the guys strive for those letters its what keeps them going and keeps us wives going. Once he got to A school he had his phone so it was much easier, we talked everyday after he was done with school. After A school he came home for 10 days then we moved. For me, my husband going to boot camp brought us so much closer together. I just kept myself busy the whole time he was gone and before I knew it, it was time for him to come home. He is now on his first deployment and I'm in a place where I have no family or friends down here, so its very difficult. Hang in there girl, things will get better!! Stalk the mail man every week for those letters : )

Thanks for the info im crying right now because its so good to know that me and his kids can be with him after A school I cant wait im so miserable these 8 weeks are not easy and this is just the 3rd day. how are you settling in?
