Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Thank you Penny & Navywifeandmom! Now I can make reservations. I'll go even if by some chance my son does not pass. He most likely will as he does pretty well. I have not seen him since graduation from BC Nov. 5, 2010 & I have been saving my vacation, which I must take by Dec 31 or lose it. I live in Los Angeles County so it's a long & expensive trip. I'm also planning on visiting south eastern states since this will be the first time I have ever been to that part of the country.
Navywifeandmom - My son graduated from A school May 20th (I think). He is also an EM. The chief required him to be the physical training leader. So if you mention that to your son he will most likely know who he is. He's an athlete. He actually wanted to be a Navy Seal, but he was denied because he is color blind. Being color blind turned out to be a blessing in disguise for me (although I didn't let him know how I felt). I would have supported him in his choice to be a Navy Seal, but I sure am glad I didn't have to.

MomofNuke, my son graduated bootcamp February 28 and then A-school on May 13. Sounds like my son has been behind yours all the way until Power School. Los Angeles County - try Seattle, WA !!!! Right at three thousand miles is quite the trip but I plan on being there one way or another and also really hoping to make a trip the before then ... sometime in September or October. Unfortunately just one month ago I ended up with a guy crossing the center line right in front of me totaling my SUV and sending me to the hospital. Am finally getting better but still a ways to go before I'm ready to get on a plane to head off to see my son and truly have an opportunity to see Charleston. That said .... one day at a time and I cannot wait to go there even if I have to wait until graduation to do it.
I sure hope to see you there.

I sure will, MomofNuke...good to finally find someone else on here that is in the same class...just wish we were both in the same section. Oh well...this is surely close enough.
By the way, how is your sailor doing so far in the classes? My son says they have two tests coming up this next week - Physics and Heat Transfer, I believe.

Penny, Overall my son is doing well. He seems to be happy & enjoying himself. By nature he always sees the bright side of things, he was born an optimist. Only when something is really bad does he get down. When he makes his mind up to do something, he does whatever it takes.
The physics test was his worst so far between both A & PS, 2.8 or something around that. Fortunately, he did well on Heat Transfer something around 3.8 (might be off on the scores as I don't write them down when he tells me). He said no one in his class/section could believe he scored so low on the Physics test. He has the ability to do well academically, but he must work hard to do so. He is not one of those that don't have to study & do well anyway. He's never been good at taking tests. But from what I have observed in life, those that work hard & have discipline are usually happier & more successful than those that things come easy to.
How about your son?

Penny & NavyWifeandMom, I texted my son with the small amount of info I had about your sons, but he could not figure out who they might be.

My son is John Thomason and he is 23 years old. He is housed in Naurilus A-104. 6'2", approx 225 lbs, lots of freckles and one hairy dude!!! They tease him the he wears a sweater under his t-shirt. lol When in uniform, his name tag says A-School Honorman.
Don't know if that helps but there you go - now he can go find him.
