I'm staying at the waukegen marriot hotel also, and I heard it is a very good hotel!!
Let's see...Haven't booked a hotel, haven't picked a hotel, don't know how long we should stay, not sure how many of my other kids are coming...So in short, all I know is the greeting card aisle makes me cry & I can't wait for my first letter/call. :-)
I've been telling my boyfriend's mom to make hotel arrangements ASAP, but so far...nothing.  I would make them on my own, but we aren't sure how many people are coming and if it's just going to be the 2 of us, or at most 3 of us, then there's no need for me to get my own room as well.  I told her to book through the weekend, too...but we'll see what she does.  I'm just getting so anxious I think it would make it seem a lot more real if we had those reservations already.  I'm not sure if we're planning on driving or taking the train either...either way it's about an 6-8 hour trip.  4 round trip train tickets would only be $128 for us...I'm sure we'd spend more than that in gas for the trip...but then we'd be without a car up there.  I don't know...there's too many decisions to be made!!!!
To Ering NC- I think we will ALL feel better when we get that first communication! I still can't clean his room or start his laundry. I don't know if he's miserable and regrets his decision or if I am the only one who is miserable and he is having the time of his life. I picked the Marriott Waukegan because of the shuttle to the base.

to cvargo- Welcome to our group. You do not have to be a Mom to miss your SR. In fact, much to our dismay, I'm sure

most of our boys miss their girlfriends more than their Mommies. LOl

If anyone has a FaceBook account, the U.S Navy Recruit Training Command has a page with random pictures of the recruits. It's like "Where's Waldo" but with recruits!!!
They also have pictures of PIRs. Which means we might catch a glimpse of our sailors in about 4 weeks.

Thanks, Ering NC!!  I looked it up and stared at the pictures and dissected each face!!  I couldn't find any winners though :(  Although...I will be trying to answer those trivia questions to get us a picture!!!

So, my boyfriends mom told me that she made reservations the other day at the Residence Inn, but only for Wednesday night and Thursday night...even though I had told her that everyone on here had said to book through the weekend.  So, it looks as though I'll be making my own reservations elsewhere for after she leaves, and if she changes her mind, then I'll cancel mine.  All I know, is that in the off chance he gets to stay through the weekend, I'm not going to leave him sitting up there alone!  He's going to be gone enough over the next 6 years, I'm going to spend every minute with him I can!!
Ash - I am with you - I booked thru the weekend just in case.  If my son writes and tells me different I will post it here - He is going to A school in PensacolaFlorida next, so I am hoping to spend more than 1 day with him!!
I already made my other reservations at the Navy Lodge :).  The man on the phone was so helpful!!  He said changing any reservations or cancelling won't be a problem, as long as their done before 6pm the day of check-in.  My SR is going to Goose Creek, SC next.  Right now RTC is saying Friday departure for most SRs since PIR is on a Thursday, of course.  Hopefully our's gets pushed back like it did on Memorial Day!  One day won't be nearly enough!!!  I might sneak in his luggage, lol!!
I received my first letter today!! He sounds like he's toughing it out just fine. PT has been easy for him but the heat is brutal.  They have to go everywhere in full camos. He likes the food and they give him plenty of time to eat. He says at times it is boring and tedious but he didn't expect boot camp to be much fun.  I hope you ladies get your letters soon. A great weight has been lifted. Now I can start counting to graduation!!!
