For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)
This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.
The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter. If you scan in a picture of an article that contains your Sailor’s last name, make sure to black it out first. If it is an online Navy article or news article that you are reposting, do not publicly identify the mentioned Sailor as your son or daughter.
• No Sailor addresses, emails, or other contact information. The exception to this rule is FPO addresses.
• Specific dates, times, and locations regarding current or future deployments and ship movements. Do not post dates more specific than by month. Do not post specific ports of call, deployment bases, or future destinations.
• Details regarding training, equipment, and current or future operations or missions. (But Boot Camp is okay.)
• Names or numbers of the Recruit Training Command staff.
• Ways to cheat the system. Navy will see it as a breach of security when you share things like how to bend the rules. We don’t want to jeopardize the safety of our Sailors.
INCORRECT:
My Sailor is in XYZ unit and is stationed at ABC camp in XXX city in Iraq.
My daughter is aboard the XYZ ship heading to ABC city/country in X days.
They will be coming back on X date from XXX city.
CORRECT:
My Sailor is deployed in Iraq.
My son is aboard the Stennis.
They will be coming back sometime in May.
When in doubt, less is better. -

My son is in 12/312. We've had 3 letters from him (received all in the same day), but nothing since. Didn't get a phone call and haven't seen a letter in a week. I'm sure there's a good reason, but I miss him so much. He spent his 18th bday in bc and he said it was just another day. That brought the tears. Also said they've had a lot of IT as they've gotten in trouble. He's had some issues with inspection but I'm not surprised. He's never been neat so I'm sure it's a HUGE learning curve. :)
Can't wait until 9/16. We live in the Chicago area, so if I can answer any questions, please feel free to ask. Look forward to meeting the parents of the other SR's my son has spent the last 8 weeks with. All I know is that I can't possibly be any prouder of him and can't wait to give him a great big hug.

Its alright. I haven't heard anything since last wednesday. So I'm hoping to get some letters soon. My SR has been writing on Fridays and Sundays, not to sure when your SR usually writes, but it if its somewhat close to what my SR does, then you should be getting a letter soon! I'm sure they will be writing tomorrow. Hope they get to call soon, I miss hearing my SR.

I know it's the same for me (3 letters and phone call a week ago). I know my son said that there were problems with the DIV getting it together. But I also know that they only have Sunday (and I think one other day) to write letters. I'm sure my son has had the same issues with inspection, because he also wasn't so neat at home. But just think we are 4 Fridays away from seeing them. I'm looking forward to going to the meet and greet to meet my new N4M friends :)

My son is also 12/312; I've received letters but no phone call. I know he's anxious and has been sick but is hanging in there. So sorry to hear that there's no big deal about his b-day; I'm quite sure you will have a chance to make it up to him! I've already decided in advance with all the holidays my son will miss with us, I will just celebrate whenever he's around -- the day doesn't matter.
We plan on leaving Wed a.m. for Chicago -- can't wait!
btw, too funny that you mention how sloppy your son is -- it took a week for me to clean out my son's room at home! I don't think he has ever hung up a shirt before boot camp. It's amazing how one learns when pressured.

Quick question! The shirts that we will wear for our division, are we going to be making them ourselfs, or will it be like the ribbons thats lala is doing? Like, we just give someone our information everything? Just wondering! :D

Julie I don't know what do you think. I was just going to take a couple of t-shirts to a mall we have close by to have them put the letters on them. I try to be crafty but sometimes it doesn't work out so well. :/

When were you planning to wear the shirts? To the PIR ceremony? I was planning to be dressed a little nicer than a t shirt.
