Hi friends.

  This group is for anyone that has a "NEW NUKE" that just graduated BC.  MM/EM/ET are all welcome!    If you are a "veteran" NUKE MOM, we need you, too!  With 1400 members this is just a smaller forum for us "newbies"....maybe we can help each other through this next phase of training!    I know some of you already from PIR4/29/11 group...

My grandson is graduating ProtoType in two weeks.  He was just picked up to stay and teach at NNPTC.  What a very special honor, we are really proud of him!

recently noticed that I had DM's Easter candy still in a sealed bag in the basement.  He was at boot camp at Easter time, but while shopping I picked up 4 of everything, out of habit, for my 4 kids, not thinking that he wasn't home.....and then I couldn't mail the candy to him at boot camp and kind of forgeot abt it.  Anyhow, I saw it the other day and mailed it to him.  He was excited and said that he shared the PEEPS with some of his classmates and they really enjoyed them :)

Thats a great Story - Im sure they all enjoyed the candy... I do the same thing unfortuantely its not on purpose, every year, no fail, I hide some candy in the house and then the next Holiday I find it... so for valentines day they are getting there chocolate peanut butter christmas tree's and for Easter they are getting chocolate peanut butter hearts... and so on...  its become a long running joke in the house I use to get embarressed about it - but now its expected... 

Got S's Graduation date from Power School - October 7th  WooHoo... we were planning the trip over the weekend and its so exciting..  he had to choose between Leave after graduation, holiday leave and transfer leave.. sad but true, so he decided to put his chit in for the holidays.  he wants to do protype in Ballston Spa, NY, so, if he gets it,  he will get some time for transfer , but not the full 10 days, If the hold is still at 8 months, its going to be a long time before he can come back home to NY, but hey If I had to choose winters in Ny or winters in S. Carolina - I definately would want S. Carolina...  They have asked me to start to look/get information  for rental housing/apartments - for 3 of them, so Im happy to have this little project.

My nephew's PIR is Next Friday 08/26, sadly we cant  go, but Im so excited for my sister and her family.

Hope all is safe with the weather. DM called and said his supervisor told them to get some extra cash from an ATM and some water and food that would keep a while and if they need to evacuate they had enough of them in their group with cars to drive them all to a military base nearby, likely somewhere inland in GA.  He said they were told to pack lots of uniforms if they go. Power was out for a while today he said, but could have been due to other storms or earthquake or something else. If they have to go they were told they would not have internet available at the other base, but hopefully cell phone service would be in tact...Let me know what you ladies are hearing.

Hi friends!

  spoke to my son on Monday, and he didn't say anything about preparations, just that his week was very busy

and he has 14 hours of watches to do, too....he does have a car there, it will take himself plus 4 more....he did say they've lost 6 out of their class for various reasons...if they started with 30, that's 20% already and we have until 10/29 to get through A school.  Prayers going up for all those left in the class...

I am headed for GC tomorrow afternoon!  Bad thing is I'm having trouble with the A/C in my van and no time to fix it before the trip.....We are trying to get D's car ready to take to him and my husband and I hope to caravan down, but the repair shop has had it for a month and we HOPE it's done in the AM.  My other 2 boys are going down as well and looking forward to the long weekend :)  My youngest son just turned 8 and has never seen the ocean. (poor boy, I feel like he's been deprived)  Very excited to take him to the beach.

  I would be interested to know how your youngest reacts to the shoreline / beach?  Hope the cars treat you okay...I think it's cooler in GC than it is in Memphis right now...and maybe as long as you keep moving with the windows down you'll be allright...???   Have a safe trip!  :)

Haven't heard much from RD, just that he's glad to be done with digital.  He said they split the class

and now he's 1133T....does that mean that the ET's and EM's are in their own class now?

  Getting frustrated with the one word responses when he sends a TXT message....It's been a tough couple of weeks.  I think I've heard less from him than at any point, including BC.  (at least I would get snail mail once in awhile)  I know it's good training for when they deploy, but I'm still struggling with it.

Hi Swim - i feel your pain, its so frustrating.  But what I've come to realize is this    1) they cant talk about thier day with us, as they are not allowed too    2) they spend so much time in school, they do not have much time to go out , so again not much to talk about.     3) they are so focused on learning that they seem to forget every day simple tasks     4) for some this is the first time learning time management, bill pays, cleaning, laundry  Etc..  5) they are getting up at 4:30 to 5:00 am in the morning, PT,  shower, muster, school, chow, school, chow, study....   I could go on, but I think you get the meaning... I felt hurt in the beginning too, but i've learned to understand where his head was at. When we do speak on the phone or skype, when he starts to yawn and  get sleepy.  thats my que to tell him I Love him, how proud I am of him and keep doing what your doing  and I alway get a thanks momma and I love you too! 

I cant believe I'll soon be coming up to a year that S left for Boot camp, its been a crazy ride for us all.   last week I got my invitation to NNPTC  Nuke School Graduation on 10/7 - both my husband and I stood there crying, neither one of us could speak.  we are so proud of him and that he accepted this challenge, in turn he will be rewarded for the rest of his life.

raising them was the easy part - letting go my friend, that is the hard part

  I appreciate your advice...Congrats on your upcoming graduation.  I didn't cry at BC PIR.

  I'm afraid the flood gates will open by the time we get to Power School graduation, though.

how are things going for you and your nukes?  My son said that everyone in his class passed their

PFA and now PT is voluntary instead of mandatory!  They must be getting ready for testing, since

graduation is scheduled for 10/28....

   hope you are all fine, with fair weather and calm seas....
