ATTENTION ALL 02/944 FAMILY/FRIENDS (idea from Sheshe)
If at possible; If affordable, I would love to see how many DIV's can do this.
So here is how it can work from here forward.....
1. Back of t-shirt says Sailor ------ (there Last Name) & front of shirt SHIP02DIV944 however you want to place it and of course our LALA ribbons.
2. SHIP02DIV944 - Navy Blue shirts with White Letters
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my SR will keep,
The sense that I support them still,
And send them support and fight of will.
To do their best these short eight weeks,
And place them on the path of to be,
The strength to be our Navy’s best,
And cast aside the feel of unrest.
That they become a division of,
The best, the pride, a “Division of ONE”,
One heart, one soul, one fight to be,
The best division of our Navy,
So sleep SR and hope to find,
The strength you need to leave those behind,
And move forward on your path to be,
The new glory of the United States Navy.
AMEN!
Got a letter from him! He wrote it on Saturday and said that this is hell week and will be crazy busy. He said that they have roughly 5 inspections, their second PFA test and simulated and live fire. He sounds very positive. He says for us to pray for him and his division they all could use support and prayers! Praying for all our SR's!
Hello All,
My Son is in this group as well. I just found this site over the weekend. I've gotten three letters so far; one a week for the past three. He has also written to friends and family members. He sounds good in the letters but, no phone calls yet! Sounds like nobody has gotten a phone call yet?
I will be attending graduation and have many questions about that. I'll be looking around the site for answers. Advice welcome!!
Donna
Welcome to the family, Donna (Piper)! Many here and on the http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ship2div944pir91709/forum site that can help you. Feel free to vent, praise, cry, rant, and laugh with us! FYI ~ many others are going out and getting shirts made to wear to the Meet and Greet the day before PIR so we can ID each other and which division we belong. Our's (02/944) is navy blue with white letters. Some ideas are having your SR's first name, last name, ship/div on the shirt (front or back), or whatever you wish. The Meet and Greet is held at a Ramada Inn close to the base from 6pm - 8pm on Thursday. There is a link where you can RSVP if you are planning to attend (and so the hotel knows how many to expect for that meeting). Hope to see you there!
Anita (daughter is SR)
Hi Anita,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I ordered pins, but, don't know if I'll get around to the shirts. Too busy to make them myself and not sure where to get one made. I did RSVP for the meet and greet so I will look forward to seeing you there.
I'm still trying to figure out how my Son got in the musical group. I'll fall over if I get there and he is playing an instrument.
I still haven't gotten a phone call yet. Just letters. But I don't see that anyone from 944 has gotten a call. It sounds like they are crazy busy and I read somewhere that many of them are sick. If I know my Son he won't call me if he sounds sick. He wouldn't want me to worry.
Donna
Well, he could also be in the color guard or riffle corp. The 900 Club is performance - they are the marching band, the drum corp, riffle corp, color guard just to name some. My SR wrote me saying Hell Week was not that bad but these next 2 weeks WILL be hell week. Cannot wait to meet you! Just look for the lady standing next to the guy in the bunny ears (long story lol)
Anita
WOO HOO! Letter on Sat (unexpected!)
From tuesday - "...end of 2nd day of Hell Week and I think it's going good so far. At 0530 my division and I took our 2nd PTS and I PASSED! With 50 sit-ups, 45 push-ups and a half a minute off my old run time XD. The same day we had our personnel inspection and weapons turnover inspection, I passed both with no hits and all but one person passed each inspection. Today we had a zone inspection, whic is when an inspector looks through our whole compartment and the inside of our racks for the placement of clothes in it and how percise it is. Everything has to be neatly folded and in the exact way our RDCs showed us. Anything else we have to wear is hanging on the hooks of our racks like sweats, peacoat, garment bag and other uniforms. Everyone here is getting sick including myself. A few have has pnemonea and others have a loud cough. I'm getting a scratchy throat and a slight cough. I don't want to go to sick hall because it could effect my training. Another big thing we did today was marksmanship simulator class. We all got to learn how to hold, reload and shoot a 9mm and a 12g shotgun. Tomorrow is when we do live fire and if you shoot good enough you'll get a ribbon. If you're really good, you'll get the ribbon with a bronze "S" for sharpshooter or a silver "E" for expert (experts also get a metal to wear). This week we're also getting individual and group pictures, military I.D., and our drill inspection. The firefighting and gas chamber won't be until next week. And we also have to take our 2nd of 3 tests the same day as drill. Well I have to sleep now. Will be getting up early tomorrow and fitted for my dress uniform. Wish me luck and I hope to hear more from you. P.S. and keep me posted on all the big news that's happening. Love - - - - - ."
