Hello everyone,

I'm a new N4M mom from Michigan.  My son is currently in BC, and his PIR is Aug 26th.  Really missing him, especially since communication isn't possible during the first few weeks.  Just returned from the post office to mail a stack of letters to him (got his mailing address Friday...so excited!)

Would love to connect with other MI navy moms...especially, but not exclusively, in the SE lower MI subs.  So grateful for N4M!!!

Peace,

Carole

Welcome, CarolW. The sailors really relish the letters while in boot camp. My son has been in the Navy for almost 2 1/2 years. The Navy has been good for him, but now he's too busy to call much. He is a nuke sailor on a sub so when he's out to sea, we communicate thru short emails. They grow up a lot! Don't hesitate to ask questions or make comments.
Welcome Carol!  I posted a welcome on the regular MI N4M - don't know if you are following the posts.  Both cudawn & Lorraine are correct about writing letters in BC, getting a room for you guys to spend time with your Sailor after PIR, and all the other stuff.  You will relish every phone call and every visit, because you never know when you will see/hear from them.  We all lean on eachother and laugh together.

Hi All!  Thank you for responding to my post.  I've been dealing with missing my son so much lately that I haven't been on N4M in awhile.  I've received three letters so far from my son, and treasure each one of them -- even the really short ones because he's so tired!

Thank you all for your encouragement and support.  This is such a challenge for me, I'm not sure I'd be doing as well as I am without the support of all the wonderful folks on N4M!

Colleen, is there another forum for MI moms???

Thank you all!

Hi Welcome,

My daughter graduated BC in June and is in Texas at HM a school. I live in SE michigan. You will love this website. It has been a blessing for me.

Janet

Hi Janet,

My son will attend A School in San Antonio...is that where your daughter is?

Carole

Hi Carole, Yes, she is there now. She is loving it, not all the drama, but the training is amazing. We have one more month then she will be done with this leg of training. We are hoping to find out orders in the next week or so.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, it has been a crazy month. My youngest daughter and I are going to Texas this weekend are so excited.

Have a wonderful day and I look forwad to getting to know you.

Janet

Welcome Aboard Carole!  It is such a joy and pleasure to get to know all the other MI Navy moms here.  I am in the South Central MI area.  My son Allen is K9 Master-at-Arms and has been in 4 years.  He just re-signed for 4 more years.  He is stationed in Sasebo, Japan.  You are going to love this website.  Everyone here is so loving, fun & helpful in everything.  Hope to be able to get together sometime in the future with you and many of the other Navy moms.  Just like the other moms have said, continue to write every day and send them to him.  He will cherish each letter.  It is the toughest time for them to be in BC, but it will be so amazing when you see him at PIR.  They go in as our children, but come out as grown men/women.  Make sure you get your reservations and a box of kleenex for the ceremony.  So touching and take LOTS of pictures.

Take care,

Cheryl

Cheryl,

Three weeks to go!  I can't wait to see my baby's face again!  Thank you for your encouragement!

Carole

Hi Carole...don't know if you will get this before tomorrow, but I just am seeing your post for the first time.  Tomorrow is your big day....congratulations.  Take a deep breath and enjoy every minute of it.  Bring  your tissues, camera and money.  Your SR will have things they need and there will be stuff at the NEX you want.  Congrats and welcome to this awesome amazing journey we are all on. My sailor has been in for 2 1/2 years. I talk to him often either by phone or skype.  I am on the other side of the State, but always here if you need someone.

Hi Carol,

Just go to the "Michigan" moms group and instead of adding a new discussion, just post under the Michigan  group.  When you added your "new discussion", you were already under the Michigan group.  Does that make sense?
