Welcome prouty2002 - Glad you are here - we are all in the same situation.  :-)  Should be getting letters sometime this week or next!  One mom in 947 just got her mail and receveid her first, so that is pretty neat.  Please look around the site, review the OPSEC rules, and meet your Navy family!

Just received my first real letter today!!!  2 full pages whoo hoo!!  He seemed very positive!!

Waiting waiting for that phone call home. No letter yet though. Got the form letter last week with PIR information. My son is in DIV 330.

I am still trying to figure out how to get to PIR, but I will be going by myself, maybe one other person, don't know yet so I will have 2 for sure maybe 3.  Maybe 4 LOL if I can't figure out a way to go LOL.
I'll pray that you find a way to get there.  Please keep me and GCFmom in mind if you have any extra tickets.

My Grandson is 9/329 PIR 10/7, Finally got letter from him.  He sounds good but homesick.

Like GCF mom, we are two tickets short for PIR.  Any help with your extra tickets would allow me to see him graduate. He's lived next door to me since he was born so we are very close.

Hi GCFMom - I found something on the U.S.Navy Recruit Training Command facebook page that says that active military can get in to ceremony and do not count in your 4 spots. That person just has to show his military ID. Check out section on "Question about PIR guest" on their discussion board on their facebook page.
Got a letter today. Only one page, but he sounds upbeat. Now i just want to hear his voice.
Hi everyone! My husband is ship 09, Div 330. I got his first letter on Thursday! It was so good hearing from him. To the people asking about extra tickets, from what i've heard, it's not actually tickets that we get.  Out recruit has 4 guaranteed spots, but childern under 13 don't count towards that 4.  Also, I have read at many places that even if you have more then 4 there hasn't been an instance when someone was denied inside for PIR. Just go early, to get the seats you need. I wouldn't put my life on it, but i've googled it many times because I was worried about the same thing. Hope this helps you! PLEASE let me know if anyone gets a phone call! I'm patiently waiting to hear from him. And our 2 year old daughter is always trying to call him on the phone, so I know she will be over the moon to finally get to talk to him on the phone. Have you guys sent phone cards to your recruits or are they going to call collect?
I sent a phone card, but my husband said when he was in they didnt get to call until about the 5th week. That was over 20 yrs ago though. The letter I got from my son this past wed also said they were not allowed to receive their mail yet.  Hopefully thta has changed by now.
Yeah, I hope that has changed too. Because I write everyday so he's gonna have a book by the time he gets it all lol I've read a few places that they should get a phone call at the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4. So i'm hoping this coming weekend I will hear from him. But nothing is guaranteed, so hoping for the best! Can't wait til Thursday for another letter to be here! They can only write on Sunday's until the earn more days to write. So you should receive your letter on the same day every week, if they write you every Sunday.
I hope they are getting their mail between myself, his siblings and extended family he is going to have a mountain of mail to read. I cant wait for thursday to come for that letter as well. I never used to check mail and now I think the mailman is afraid of me ( ha ha). I will not put down my cell phone for a second either. I just really wish I would receive his form letter. He left 3 weeks ago today and I have not received it yet. It is making it difficult to make travel plans.
