So if I get him a virtual card I can jsut send the info in a letter?
Yes.  My SR said in my letter that they might be able to make a call on week 3 or... if they score high enough on a test they might earn a 15 minute phone call.  My SR just has the calling number & the pin on a piece of paper.
I sent the card, but copied the front and back of the card and kept it.  Enlarged it too, so I could READ it!!  lol!  I am getting blind in my old age.

Hello, I am not a mother, but the big sister of a Recruit in Division 339. I hope its OK that I am here. Our mom will be joining the group too just as soon as she is approved by admin. My name is Golden, and my brother Lakin. We are from Western Washington (North of Seattle). It was pretty hard for me to watch him leave. I know he was really excited and I am so happy for him, but I worry about him getting hurt. I will be going to their graduation Oct. 7th with our parents. I am excited to hear all the stories he will have for us!

golden

Welcome Golden - of course it's fine that you are here!  We are all excited to be meeting up in GL on 10/7.  Please review the pages associated with this group (look just to the right of the discussion groups, there is a list of 'Pages'), including OPSEC and the rules associated there.  Start practicing these rules now so you get used to them.  Specifically, please don't use last names, or your SR's name.  One suggestion will be to change your username from first.last to something else that is less identifyable.  This is for the safety of our Sailors, espeically those that will have a clearance now or in the future.  There is a ton of information and support here, so read, read, read and seek support from these amazing women!

Thank you for that heads up. I didnt even think about that.. While he has a different last name, I completely understand and have changed it. :) Thanks for looking out for everyone! I will keep reading and learing all the rules and guidelines.
:-)  For you safey too sis.  This is a public site, so we all just want to be a little careful.  Pretty exciting - my daughter is also the big sis, and she is thinking that she will get the first phone call from our SR!  She just might, so mom here might be feeling a twinge of sadness when that happens, but at the same time, so very glad my kids are close and he would be missing his sis as much if not more as the rest of us.  If he does call her, I know she will call me immediately afterwards and share all she hears.  Of course - we have no idea when that will be - maybe later this week we hope.
Hey golden glad to have u here!!! U r more than welcome!!! I have a teenage daughter as well that has had it pretty rough!!! Please also know that if u have a facebook u can like sisters of sailors too that will also give u some support!!! We all have to get thru this together!!!!! HUGS!!!!
Susan
