I am just curious about a wives and girlfriends take on the relationship, deployments and how long they really are gone and back for, specifically nuke and submarines.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I keep hearing different times and it's confusing me and stressing me out further than I already am.

Fast attack submarines have a deployment that is 6 months long and they have underways that could last for a few days to months at a time. They have no set schedule.  Their deployments can be extended. I really only know about the fast attacks because thats they only kind of boat my husband has been on.  I hope this helps.

Hey, my boyfriend is a nuke on a sub, and he goes out usually once a week per month, but he has had underways that have lasted about 6 weeks. During the 6 month deployment he will be able to call you/skype you whatever when he is in port....mine is stopping 4 times. Other than that...get used to sailor mail!

Subsailorgirl~what boat is your boyfriend on?
USS Toledo
My husband is on the Springfield and they are also only stopping 4 times.

Yeah, definitely blows, not looking forward to it. Especially since they've been underway so often it seems

Deployments can be any amount of time, they are changing all the time.  Be open and ready for change at all times.  That is part of the Navy.
That's definitely different than him or his father was telling me. They were saying 9 months to a year gone and the same amount of time back.
I've been dating my boyfriend for 6 months now. He's been here maybe 3 months, not consecutively at all. He will be deployed in a few months. He comes and goes very frequently. And a weeks notice is really good.
