I wanted to start a group with others that have Nukes that are at the same stage of the program as my son.  Looking forward to many discussions!

Our Nukes have a test today. I forgot the name of the class, but it is the one that they learn about the tools. Hopefully they do well and can relax and enjoy the weekend!

Extra super proud of my sailor today!  Scored in the top 3 in class!  And this from a young man who's never worked with tools in his life!  He is in his element according to him and loving it.  Suddenly he's morphed from a kid into a confident young man.  Thank you US Navy!

Shannon, that is great! My son scored a 3.8 on the math test and a 3.7 on the tool test. I don't know how that ranks with the rest of the class. I am just happy that he is finding it easy so far. I hope he still feels that way halfway through powerschool.

I thin we lost Dani. I think her son's class may have started a week before ours. I base that on the test comment she made. Do you think I should remove her class group. I wonder if we are the only moms in our A school group. I hope over time we gain more moms. I was thinking when it came time to go to powerschool, I could just change the title of the group. Well at least we have eachother to talk to about upcomming challenges and test that our sailors are face with. Speaking of challanges, they have a PTA on Wednesday. (I think it is wednesday anyway)

Is there a way to send Dani a message and ask her if she is still part of our little group?  If not, I'd just leave her in this group in case she's just extra busy or has something personal that is keeping her from participating.

Sounds like you son may be the one guy who was ahead of my son on the tools test.  He said one guy and the only girl scored higher than he did.  He also is finding it easy but he said a bunch of them failed  the tools test and have up to 25 hours of study time mandatory now.  Yikes.  I'm sure they can all make it if they put in the time and take it seriously.

If not the 3 of them at the top can just stick together.

I agree when they go to Power school, just change the name and keep the group.

Congratulations to your son!

My son is 1146a also, spent Labor day week-end with him...seems to be doing great....scored top 4 in there last test, think tools/mechanical test! Took his car and some civies down to him, as they will be phasing up soon. Sounds like they are gonna have a fun end of the week day......volunteering painting houses, followed by a cook-out and activities.

Spent the week-end at the beach and touring the Forts and the USS Yorktown, was fun, but my back was broke! LOL.

Hi Amanda! Glad you found us! Looking forward to spending these years with you gals!

I am so jealous! I wish I was closer to GC. My son also had his first visitors. His grandma and uncle were on vacation in Myrtle Beach and spent the Sunday before Labor Day weekend with him. My brother Mike said that he couldn't believe how focused my son was. He said he was so proud to know him. People were frequently coming up to my son  to thank him for serving his country. Mike said he couldn't believe how well my son carried himself and how great his responses were. It made me proud just hearing about it. Still, I wish I was there. I am in MI, so a visit is more than a hop, skip and a jump, but not out of the question. There will be a visit in my future!

I heard from my son (via text) about the PTA. He also said they did well. That's our boys!!

Yes my son also has changed....soo grown up and mature.....not my little kid anymore......he turned 21 in bootcamp, so he has posted a status on facebook that this friday he gets to drive his car and "partake" in adult beverage!!LOL Told him not to "partake" too many.

Shouldnt be a problem cause hes really not much of a drinker thank god! But yes, people would come up and voice there appreciation for the military and there service and he carried himself very well I must say! His dad did 20 yrs in the Marine Corp, so Colin is very familiar with the military.

I hope you get to visit your son soon!

just got off the phone with my son and he said they all did well on there PTA! :)
glad I found this group with common classes!

Hi Amanda,

Welcome to our little group.  I envy you getting to spend time with your son.  We Skype with ours a lot but are too far away to get to see him in person.  Sounds like you all had a great time!

thanx shannon, sorry u are so far away....where are u? We live in North Carolina, so only a 5-6 hr drive. If my math is right they should graduate A school around Thanksgiving, so hopefully he can come home on leave for a few days.

His girlfriend is planning a trip down to GC the end of the month. I catch him on facebook about 5am every morning as that is when I get up for work, he also calls almost nightly!

He said this week has been pretty easy compared to the previous weeks, they got done at 3 o'clock today, but has to go back, after laundry, to finish homework and some more study hrs! I believe this is also the last week for math.

Unfortunately we are at our retirement place in Mexico, but his aunt is 6 miles from the base so she is going to cook one of his favorite meals for him this weekend,  That's about the best we can do for now. He is planning to visit during their break (we have his cat lolol) and we are very excited about seeing him.  He says he should have about 10 days leave by then. His cat, a massive 18 pound tom with extra toes AND CLAWS on EVERY foot, and a disposition to use them,  is stomping across the keyboard as I try to write this.
