For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Division 947
This Discussion is for loved ones of Recruits in Division 947. Your Recruits will be training together, so perhaps you would like to get to know each other on here.
Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.
Besides playing an instrument or singing, there are also Recruits/Sailors who will do color guard, carry state flags, act as escorts, do rifle guard--lots of important jobs. They are usually involved in the PIR before theirs and sometimes in the one 2 weeks before their own as well.
Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions.

Just search for questionnaires on this site...there are loads of samples that you can copy and paste and "tweak" for your SR. Most of the ones I used are linked on the main page for this Training Group. If you just go back to the top of this page and hit back to PIR 10/7/11 discussions, then back to PIR 10/7/11, there is a link for letters/questionnaires. I just copied those and made them work for my son. A lot of them ask the same questions, but I just deleted the repeat questions before I printed them. I have 10 questionnaires ready to mail to my SR. I didn't save them, just printed them out as I went...

Hi Everyone.. this is my first time on here and would really like to meet some other moms with sons or daughters in the 947 division. I have a few questions? What time is graduation at on 10/07/11? And how long do we get to spend with them before they have to leave? He is going to be going to South Carolina for Nuke School.. so not sure when.. I have recieved my first letter and so so happy to hear from him..Can't wait for 10/07/11!!!! If anyone has info just let me know. Thank you moms..

Hi DRocksMom - Welcome! We are all 947 moms, and I think there are several that are Nuke moms as well.
PIR is at 9am on the 7th, and we will get a few hours with them before they have to be back on base. Some earlier than others if they have a watch they have to stand.

Sounds like none of us in 947 have gotten calls, but I can say my sons letter sounds very positive, so I'm sticking with the 'no news is good news' theory, writing every day, and anticipating 10/7! :-)

Finally!!!! SOOOO good to hear his voice! He's had a viral infection, but he's getting better. Said next week is "Hell Week" and that he is going to San Antonio for Corpsman A school.

I was so excited to hear his voice, that I barely remember anything he said...He didn't say anything about the other SR's though...it was right at 6:00 Eastern time when he called, we talked for less than 20 minutes and then he said he had to go because he had some shopping to do...
