Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son leaves on Tuesday at 10am...I am an emotional mess.. He told me i am emotional enough for everyone lol.
I was wondering if anyone can give the number of guests allowed to attend graduation?
Then i hope i can figure out where the answers from the post are!!! lol
Any input would be so appreciated and i hope to find a couple moms who i can correspond with regularly. My son is going to Great Lakes for boot camp.
I love reading the posts on here it makes me feel like I'm not "going crazy" :) so thanks !!!!
Looking forward to hearing back from some of you!!!

He is allowed 4 "tickets". You might be able to get more in on standby. Congrats on his up coming training. My son graduates on 9/9. It has been hard but these gals here are great. Heed their advice. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Also don't be afraid to cry here also. We have all been there. Some of these gals have also just begun their journey also. Good luck.

I can say it does get a bit easier as time goes on. Just remember that this is but one moment in his journey in the Navy. It will pass quicker then you think. I have she'd many tears lately and know that many more will fall. It is hard on us moms. It will be hard for him too. Just keep thinking good thoughts. It will be over before you know it.

Can you let me know about things I can bring, my son graduates 10/14/11....I did get his first call this past Monday and he mailed a letter asking for lap top, cell, watch,etc. He mentioned since my flight leaves to return at 3pm on Sunday, he most likely will not be able to bring those items he wants that he can have starting Monday, he is staying there for Pre Buds, (I bet I am calling it the wrong name, I am so new to this all) - Anyway, he ask if there was a locker somewhere that he could take a cab to pick the items up in between I guess Sunday night and Monday morning ??? On his call, I did not want to frustrate him with questions, I am sure there were officers in there when they were talking, etc. Yes, this has been one of the hardest things to sit back and support in my life, he graduated from college this past May off to the NAVY and with hopes to be a Navy Seal....So, if that goes that way, his next step of training is there still in the Great Lakes until Thanksgiving time. You are not going crazy! My son is leaving this afternoon for MEPS and then tomorrow swears in and heads to BC. The answer to your question is four; children under 12 do not count in that number. Once you get his ship/division, there are groups for particular ones, so that we can talk to other moms that our kids are with at BC. Sounds like your son has the same ship date as mine, so there's a possibility that they could be together (out of hundreds of kids). There is also a group for SR with a ship date in September which is pretty active right now. What is your son's rating? Mine will be a corpsman. He spent 6 months in DEP but it's not making today any easier!

Thanks so much Jacketfan mom..i hope we can keep in touch, is your son going to Great Lakes? My son's rating will be E3 when he gets out of boot camp. So my 10 and 11 yr old could go to graduation and not be counted in the four? that would be so awesome!!! Thanks for all the info

Yes, they can go. I have an 11 year old who happens to have a birthday very close to when I think PIR will be; one weekend he doesn't have to be on the list and the other weekend he does. His older brother and sister will not be able to come become of school/job so it will just be three of us anyway. Mine will just be an E2, I think, but I'm not completely clear on how all that works yet. Been focusing on just getting through this. I just dropped him off at the recruiters, and they have already called back and said that they are missing a signature from his dad, so he had to go back over there and fix it. He was 17 when he enlisted but is 18 now, but I guess it still has to be done. I am still holding it together, but I don't expect that to last long.

Morning!!
You are not "crazy"! My daughter is starting week 3 of BC. I wasn't crying (at least in front of her) but I was a nervous wreck inside. She was able to call me from O'hare and then again for the official I'm here (it's kinda scripted) call.
I didn't have her address yet, but started writing everyday. About 4 days later I received her box of stuff she wore to BC. That was alittle tough, but I knew in about 2 days I would receive her address. It's funny to see her jeans all rolled up at the bottom! I guess they don't have time to roll them done before putting them in the box.
The day I received that form letter has been the best day so far!! Not only did it have her address so I could maill all the letters I've written, but she was able to write a note at the bottom on 3 little lines. She wrote very small to squeeze in as much as possible. She said "so far so good!" those 4 words set me at eaze!!
What I have figuired out is this: everything comes in predictible stages. It has been much easier to handle and not be emotional by knowing what comes next. There are some very info by Craig about "P" week. The support on this site is outstanding!!

Take the advice of all the ladies....it does get easier...at least sometimes....my son has also been gone at bc for 3 weeks now. I have received one letter from him and I read it over and over and over!! The tears continue to fall altough not to the point where I am balling like a baby now! I have joined several groups and love to go on the chat and talk with the other moms. I read as much information as I can on the website and I look at all the vides I can as well. All of that has been very helpful to me.

My son will be an E3 when he graduates BC because he is going in the Nuclear program. Is your son? If so, there is a Nuke Moms group that is very active and informative.
