I got a very short one today.  About 7 lines.  He told us to wait to come see him in A school since he won't have much time after the PIR ceremony.  We already have the tickets!!  lol!

huh!? now what??  From what I've heard, it's something you won't want to miss, even if he does ship out quickly!!

Hi there!  I have to say, if you only spend one hour with him that ceremony is worth it.  They will not be the same young men who left 3ish weeks agao.... nice to meet you :)

I know it's a bummer, my SR leaving right away too, but I have nephews that have gone thru and my moma in law said it is awesome experience, my SR wasn't the star athlete or a awesome student, he studied hard for his placment, and he did it He said b4 he left; mom I am proud of myself, I can't wait for more of this feeling, great now my eyes are clouding with tears , told my husband ill ride a greyhound bus or even worse drive myself there;( YIKES I both love this whole thing and hate it too, well just the "him growing up too soon part"lol I don't know any of you yet, but so happy to have. This haven to come to when I get home at night:)

Hi all! Finally got approved!  Our son is in 340 and we will be there with bells on!  I watched my husbands PIR in 1982, I have to see my son's.  I found this site the other night and have been soaking up evey work written. Look forward to meeting you all!  We are coming from Tacoma Wa. along with his Girlfriend, in addition our older daughter is coming up from Denver too! We got a letter today that said they are receiving now daily. He said don't wait to get his letters to write as they can only send out three days a week.... GASP, lots in one post, sorry

Oh this was awesome to hear, they are finally gettin some letters, and also my mom and my sis and bro, and that whole side live in the lacey, olympia area, you just made it so ill sleep lots better tonight! Thx! We actually live in SD, miss the beauty of Mt Rainer , and pikes pl. Ect..
That is great news!!  I am new to this site but reading all that everyone has posted makes me think I am not crazy with all the feelings I have after all!!  My son in also in 340!  Looking forward to meeting everyone!  We are coming from New York.  I hope all the letters I have written get to him soon I feel bad he thinks we are not writing.  Have a great day and thank you for the news about the mail!
My SR is 07/339, brother DIV of 340, got a letter today, they know they have mail, he mentioned it is bein earned, and he gets to write on Sunday's only, senior recruits write every other day, but they have duties too like standing watch, he did say he needed to pass this next test, and he sounded very proud, said he is not a lot bigger, but mom I'm really FAST! Lol seems like it is up to their rtc's when they get privileges, makes sense, don't worry he is super busy! SR said make to send wallet size pictures, he wants lots! Hope that helps, he said send on Wednesday's too?
9/8 2 Letters and a PHONE CALL Yea!!!!!
Just got off the phone with my SR.  Was able to talk to 40 min!!  WOW!!!  I'm one happy mama!!  He said bootcamp is AWESOME!!  It was the hardest thing he has had to do but it was well worth it!!!  SO PROUD OF MY SON!!!!
Just got my first phone call!!!!  Woohoo!!!  My son earned it as a reward for making his bed perfectly!  Finally!!!
I'm sorry to say, that is the skill my SR hasn't achieved.  It is the only thing he has done wrong to earn his own "beating".  He said, he was rushed & didn't make his rack... & they inspected!! I bet he did get "beat". But, otherwise, he sounded really good.  What a great feeling to hear from them, huh!?
