I have to wonder if they are really struggling or is it just typical to make the SR's think they are early on?

Hmm I don't know, I figure that the first personal inspections were bound to fail because most of the SRs wouldn't take them as seriously as they should. My friend, a marine, always jokes about how tough it is to pass them, even now 3 years later. I mean if you have dust anywhere on your belongings or everything isn't perfect you will fail. It's a learning process and I'm sure they'll get better.

My biggest concern is the fact that the division lost 11 SRs. I wonder why?

Did your husband tell you they lost 11 SR's?  That doesn't sound good.
Well he said they were down to 78 and another one was getting sent home, the division started at 88. He didn't tell me why they had lost so many, but I did ask. His letters are only like a page so I imagine he doesn't have a lot of time, but I'm trying to get as much information as possible. He didn't say that they weren't on track though, so I am not going to stress about PIR yet.
I know what you mean, we received one letter from our son and it wasn't a full page.  He didn't really say much about his Div.  I know he wrote two other letters the same day to one of his Grandmothers and his sister.  In our letter he said he didn't have much time to write, he had watch duty.
I talked to my daughter about division failing. She said don't worry about it. If the majority of the guys don't pass the division fails and they don't get to carry a flag. The get flags for academics, gun shooting, physicals and there are other flags also. If they don't pass they don't carry that flag. And if the RDCs feel the division isn't doing a well then no phone calls. I like you Lydia, i'm wondering why so many have left? I think that it's the RDCs job to make the SRs think that they are doing a bad job. My daughter had a lot of ITs also. She said the all boy division had a tougher time of it. There's a lot of young people who like to run their mouths and test the system. Mine better not be one of them!! LOL:)  Just keep writing!! And encouraging!! PIR will be here before we know it.

Haha thanks! =)

I try to keep a positive viewpoint on most of this. I only know one person who has gone through RTC in the last 10 years, but my Uncle is still in the military and he's almost 50. My grandpa was as well. Most of my family are army and national guard. All the branches are different. I also know a lot of marines. It's hard to fail out of boot camp. I mean you can mess up a lot but they WANT you to get through it, so I know that's why it doesn't stress me out too much. My husband seemed a bit upset that it was only him and 6 others passing, but that's all part of it and I hope that persuades him to encourage the others.

I think that is good and that is what the Navy wants to break them down and then to build them back up along with them becoming a team and encouraging each other.
My son said he passed his rack inspection and his swimming. I know they had PFT last Friday, but don't know how he did.  Haven't receive any more letter from him yet. I know the gas chamber will be hard!! My daughter hated it!! And those 11 could be held back and not kicked out. When my daughter was in they put people back for all sorts of things. If they don't think your are ready to move on they will send you back. So maybe they didn't get sent home!! When my daughter was in she didn't get to call often either. She had a lot of talkers also. But she did get to call the 3rd wednesday or thursday. So maybe they will let them call this week.

Anyone have someone in DIV 337 that I can ask to inquire about how my son is doing? Apparently he's sticking to his word not to contact us. Would love to know if he is doing well.

If so, send me a private message and I'll give you info.

My son is in Div 337, if I knew how to friend someone on here I would friend you so you could give me your sons name and I could write to my son and ask him.
I sent you a friend request
