This Discussion is for loved ones of Recruits in Division 947. Your Recruits will be training together, so perhaps you would like to get to know each other on here.

Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.

Besides playing an instrument or singing, there are also Recruits/Sailors who will do color guard, carry state flags, act as escorts, do rifle guard--lots of important jobs. They are usually involved in the PIR before theirs and sometimes in the one 2 weeks before their own as well.

Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions.

Oh, I am so  happy for you!  I will cross my fingers that my SR calls too.  She works in the mail room and said she misses stuff sometimes, I pray that this is not one of those times!
my sailor called tonight too! he's doing well too. he said he also got that viral infection but he's already getting over it. sooo good to hear him. can't wait for 10/7!
Me too!  He sounded fantastic and happy!  Sounds like several of them were calling - hopefull more will get calls.
Oh yes! A phone call was exactly what this mom needed! He is finally getting over the crud, after antibiotics and light duty. He is doing well, just really homesick. Oh and congrats to our 947s, they earned a flag for their test scores. Hooyah! I tell you, it was a beautiful forty minutes! Maybe they will do well and get a new call soon for good behavior!

If any of you are not on the RTC Facebook page, I definitely recommend it. Our kids will be performing at a couple of PIRs before theirs and they post pics each week of the grads. The performers are always included in some of the pics. We can play "Where's Waldo?" and maybe spot our SRs.
Sadly I missed that phone call, I am so bummed!
Do you by chance have the link for that Facebook page?
I stink at putting links on, but if you are on Facebook, search: U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command. You will love the page! There is a discussion link on the left side. You just find our group 02/947.
I was so thankful to get my phone call yesterday! She sounded so good! She too has been sick but toughing it out! I thought it was pretty cool when she told me that when the RDC's found out that she is Mormon, when she is in the office (which as yeoman happens a lot) they watch their language around her! Sounds like they have some pretty awesome RDC's! One month from today we are going to get to see them graduate!!!! WOOOOHOOOO! I cannot wait to see my baby girl!
Hi Drocksmom,
Welcome!!!! My SR is also going to SC for Nuke school! I am pretty excited for her and proud of what she is doing with her life. I am getting excited for PIR and cannot wait to see my girl!!!!!
Hi. My daughter is also in div. 947
I feel like I don't know much about what's going on, especially since reading on here that 947 is an honor division?
Hopefully I'll learn more!
Hi mspurple67 - not 'honor', but 'performance'.  This particular division is considered a 'Triple Threat' containing drill, band, and choir.  This group was apparently screened for musical talent/marching band/drill team, etc, but even if your daughter doesn't have one of those, they are also screened for scholastic talents and leadership.  They are chosen for this div, so it certainly is an honor for them.  There is a group that might give you more information called '900 Divisions' listed above in the comments.  Welcome - ask questions, look around.  We are all excited for 10/7!!  :-)

OH ok... thanks for that info.       I only receive 'limited' info from the X  so feeling kinda lost.   thx.

my daughter does play the Clarinet.

My son plays clarinet as well.
