What a great surprise!!!! Just got off the phone - had about 40 min to talk. He sounded really good!
According to my husband it's been a rough few weeks. Over 10 sent home, another guy yesterday due to a rash and someone else going home due to emotionally issues. The RDCs are NOT nice. Let's just say they don't try and make you feel better, only worse. Apparently last night, his bunkmate and him went around the whole division and said they needed to get their act together today so they could have the 40 minute call. Apparently it worked because otherwise we only would have had 5 minutes. Bill said that him and a few others are trying to keep everyone's spirits up. Keep the letters coming and have faith in your SRs. =D
Also, if you send pictures they share with each other. He walked around showing all the guys my pictures lol. Apparently they took bets on whether I was a "whale" or not. Haha. I also got 2 letters today, with some notes from some of the other guys in the division adding their two cents. They seem like a great group, they just had to adjust and start working as a team.
Yes, we just got a call from our son, he also said they are starting to get together as a team. There are a few guys who can't conform yet, like just saying "yea" instead of "yes, petty officer". Then everyone gets punished with IT. He sounded very positive and upbeat with high hopes. We told him to tell the other SR's to tell their mom's to get on " navyformoms" Your husband sounds like he has a great sense of humor, I hope my son gets to know him. Our son has the pleasure of extra service as RCPO "assist Chaplin". He loves it and hopes he is helping his fellow shipmates.
