For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

They actually give out free ones to the recruits (new testaments, maybe with Psalms) at the Chapel. It's really small so it's good for them because they have very little space.

My son took a sailor bible but it was sent back because it was too big, however, when I talked to him on Thursday he said that he has been going to church and they gave him a smaller bible he could keep. He was very thankful for that as he told me he has never been closer to God than he is during Boot Camp. He told me that he reads it every night before he goes to sleep, so if you send one make sure it is small. I thought my son's was but evidently it wasn't small enough. They also have a bible group for Sailors that he has joined as well. GOOD LUCK to your SR.

Holly P, my son said the the same thing, I gave him my New Testament bible that I got in Sunday school, when "the box" came home, my bible was not in there. I knew then that he appreciated but was was to macho to admit it. I had a pocket new testament bible also.

I didn't send him a bible. But. I printed out certain verses for him. Just a couple to have. There's also a fantastic website, very spiritual. Google Mr Moms poems. 100' s....I printed a few of those as well.

Holly, we bought my son a "sailor's Bible". It was not big, found it at Mardell's book store. He was able to keep it during boot camp. Also, in every letter, I wrote scripture verses and references. Although he did not have a lot of time, he did use the Bible. And...he still uses it today.

I know that my SR did receive one from his DEP recruiter, nice and small, that he was able to take with him to BC.

I know that the SRs are given time on Sundays to write their letters. After reading about the church giving out bibles. Do they have time where they can attend their church or place of worship on Sundays?

They do give the recruits a bible but it is new testament and Psalms only. My son took his with him and used it everyday! They can receive it if you send him his.

They have chapel time on Sundays but I know my sons division had prayer every night for those that wanted to participate.

Our SR received one of those small compact ones at MEPS on the day he left for GL. I think the attending Chaplain or someone who donates those Bibles gives one to each recruit as they are about to depart MEPS...at least that was true where we were. I would like to give him a nice Navy Bible after GL and before I do, highlight several passages that have meant a great deal to me in my life.

Thanks PMSingleMom - I went on the MrMom website and found some nice insipirations to send to my SR as well as for some other occations too - great site. Printed several of them out and making a folder for when I write to always throw a little something in there.
