This Discussion is for loved ones of Recruits in Division 947. Your Recruits will be training together, so perhaps you would like to get to know each other on here.

Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.

Besides playing an instrument or singing, there are also Recruits/Sailors who will do color guard, carry state flags, act as escorts, do rifle guard--lots of important jobs. They are usually involved in the PIR before theirs and sometimes in the one 2 weeks before their own as well.

Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions.

Ok I sent y'all friend requests so I could just send it to each of you. Sorry you didn't receive it.
MsPurple, BS is battle stations, the last event they go through before graduation and it is where they go from being recruits to sailors.
Good morning, 947 Moms.  Only 23 days until we see our loved ones, I can't wait!  Time is going faster now, just like we've heard it would.  Wednesday is usually SR mail day here where we live, my new favorite day of the week.  Here's hoping we all get letters in the next couple of days!
More letters today! Does anyone else know if their sailor is going to volunteer for a sub? My fiance said he was and I'm not sure what to think about it. If it is only for 2 months like he said it was, I can deal with no contact because it'll be kind of like boot camp all over again. But if it's 3 or 4 like I've heard other places, I'll have a really hard time adjusting to that :( Where is the best place to find the answer to that?
My son is subs. He will be going to Groton, CN for school. From what I understand deployments vary depending on the type of sub. You could expect anywhere from two months to six months out. They do surface and sailors can make some contact. There are groups on here for subs. Do you know his rate? My son is SECF (electronics, communications, fire control). I am on a group for that rate. They could give tons of info for you.
Mine too - SECF, and going to Groton.  Have the same understanding as Aarons mom.  He's pretty excited, so I guess I am too.  :-)
Kathy, I sent you a message and once again, your post on this page answered one of my questions. Lol! We must be traveling on the same wavelength. I will see you in GL, hopefully. Since the boys are going to the same school, we will see each other at the airport at least.
Absolutely!  :-)
I put CN for Connecticutt! Oops, CT. I am one tired teacher!
PIR is getting closer and closer for this PIR group. I still can't believe September is half over, Here is just a heads up, I am working on the ribbons for your PIR group, I have several that I haven't received the payment for so if you ordered and forgot to send your payment please remember to do that :-) I will begin mailing ribbons for this PIR group in just a few days. If you have any questions at all  send me a message or a friend request. Thanks so much!!! Lala

3 weeks ladies!!!! To me, the time has flown by. I have tried to stay busy and of course with 4 kids still in school here, that keeps me extremely busy! I have been thinking about my SR a lot today and praying that everything is going well for her division and her! I got letters this week and she was having a hard time with the fact that her bunk mate was verbally attacking her for her religious beliefs and faith. But her words at the end of her letter made my heart swell with pride:

"Every day boot camp tries my faith....and every day I show boot camp that I am the light of the world and it can never diminish that light. "For with God nothing shall be impossible" Luke 1:37

I know she is strong and can make it through anything! She was writing to get encouragement from me and she ended up lifting my spirits and reminding me to let my light shine before men!!!!!!
