OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Liberty and Leave question while in A school at Goose Creek, SC
It makes sense that they cannot take leave during the week while in school. Do they get liberty for holidays? If so how long do they usually get per holiday? Is it different for certain holidays?
We are planning on getting married while he is in A school but we will have to plan carefully either on a weekend or while he is on liberty for a holiday. Any advice would be great!
His PIR date is October 28, 2011 and He is going to the Nuke program in SC. We are not sure yet if he will have to go straight there after PIR or will be able to come home for a bit. I guess it depends on when the school starts.

I don't know much about holiday leave but I do know he will not get to go home between PIR & A-School. They'll take him to the airport early Saturday or Sunday that weekend & he'll fly out then. Even if his school doesn't start right away they'll keep him on hold there until it does start. It is a very rare circumstance if they grant leave between PIR & A-School.

They get to take two weeks of leave for the Christmas holiday stand down. Even if they haven't earned the two weeks yet, they can borrow it; the school commands urge them to go home for those two weeks. He will go directly to A school from PIR, when he checks in he can find out the dates of the holiday stand down.
No one goes home directly after PIR unless it is Christmas, which is different.

VERY hard! Especially while he's in boot camp, its kind of like everything is on hold until he's finished & you can move on from there... I never thought it would end lol and then all of a sudden it was halfway over! And from that point it became a lot easier to see the end.

I know I'll look bad a few months or years from now and think, wow the time has flown by but for now yes everything is on hold like you said.

While he is in A-school he has very limited liberty. Hes going to start off as "phase 1" meaning he has to wear his uniform wherever he goes and has a curfew. He cannot leave far from base. Not even out of the city. He has to earn and rank up phases before he gets to leave on the weekend to go anywhere. Its going to take awhile to get married unless youre just going down to city hall and going on from there. Even after his PIR if he is not assigned to go to school right away he will just be on hold in Great lakes, Il. He cannot go home yet. If you ever want leave you have to request it and fill out forms and have your officers approve them. Its a long process. Message me if you have more questions

The good news is that at Goose Creek, they earn their phases quickly, and the command is very favorable toward marriage. With so many going on leave over the holidays, they sit them down as a class to fill out the leave papers, very easy compared to individual leave requests!
