For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Division 947
This Discussion is for loved ones of Recruits in Division 947. Your Recruits will be training together, so perhaps you would like to get to know each other on here.
Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.
Besides playing an instrument or singing, there are also Recruits/Sailors who will do color guard, carry state flags, act as escorts, do rifle guard--lots of important jobs. They are usually involved in the PIR before theirs and sometimes in the one 2 weeks before their own as well.
Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions.

I have to admit that I miss the activity with kids. We still stay busy and I am so lucky that the guy I married all those years ago is still my best friend. We will figure it out but we find ourselves laughing at how much we talk about our kids.
Your daughter is running cross country? Wow. I'm so impressed. Not only physical but lot of mental endurance required for those races. Good for her! -

We are empty nesters as well. We work all the time with opposite hours. Occasionally we manage some time to sit together. We also find we talk about our grown kids often. We are definitely trying to figure out how to be parents of grown kids. Where did the time go?

Only 17 Days!! It's close enough now I might start counting down on a calendar like we used to do before Christmas! On the RTC Facebook page this weekend, a mom posted a picture that was taken this past weekend at PIR, she and her daughter were embracing and they were both crying. Of course I was crying too, just thinking about it! It was so touching, you can see the emotion the two of them are sharing. So cool. I cannot wait to hug by daughter, kiss her precious face, and look into her eyes when I tell her how proud I am. That will be so much better than saying it in my letters.

I remember the closer it got to my son's PIR the more emotional I got. That day is like no other. I am hoping to see my future son-in-law graduate also. But this time I am going to stay in the stands and get a pic of him and my daughter (Mrs. Cookiemonster) when they see each other for the first time in 8 weeks. She was in tears when she saw her "broseff" so I can just about imagine what it will be like to see her fiance. Of course I am very excited for all you Mom's to see your sons too, It gives me the chills just thinking about it.

oh - I'm so glad you said that. I feel much more messed up now than I did when he left. I miss him like crazy - and just need to give him a hug. NEED it! Ugh, it makes me mad at myself sometimes. I don't want him to know it either. I know I'll be a crying momma though and I won't care if I'm in somebody's pic or not, just ready to see my son. I didn't see that picture, but maybe it's a good thing. :-)

I agree the closer it gets the more emotional I get. I just can't wait to give my son a hug. I can't believe how fast time has gone by, feels like yesterday he was just learing to walk. I am so very proud of him. While he has been in BC two of his friends have had their PIR. He is next and I can't wait.

Ladies, you are not alone!!! The more time passes, the more I feel this awful separation. This is BY FAR the longest I have ever gone without talking to my child and it is hard to deal with. My daughter hasn't been able to call since very early on, for her security clearance. She was on duty when the rest of the division called a couple of weeks ago. I now realize, I just have to assume I will not talk to her until October 7. It's not working though, I still jump and run every time my phone rings! My arms are aching for that hug. I told her in one of my letters, I'm learning through this process, too.

02/947 Families - Only 15 Days! I've gotten to the point where this is starting to feel like it really does have an end in sight! Praying like crazy our SRs are photographed performing at PIR and posted on the Facebook page this Friday, and that everyone in the division is in at least one photo so that we all get to see our loved ones' face.

Got a letter from my girl today! She is doing well and is getting excited for PIR! She says that since the 900's divisions have a special section for guests, for us to stay in our seats and our sailors will find us. I am so excited to see her!!!!!! She also wants pictures of stars and sunsets.....I think I can get those to her!
