We are both Air Force Vets - me 5yr and Husband 24, He Retired in April.  Watch the video series Return to BootCamp 1-5.  They give you a pretty good idea of what it's like.  They did alot more "in your face" yelling in our day though.  Alot of what they are learning about is Attention to detail, how to follow simple instructions, move with a purpose, take pride in what you do.  And alot of the ol' military saying - Hurry-up and wait!  My son is candy addict also but to my surprise he is actually eating apples and bananas according to his letter!!  Good thing Halloween is coming - good sale on candy!!!

Can't wait to get first letter.  If they all gave up sweets then my son may be going thru withdrawl!!  I think he lived on pizza, ramen noodles and spaghettios.  My husband and I laugh and remember what it was like for us 20+ yrs ago.  Looking forward to meeting everyone in October.

mshouse70...  I know my SR loves Pizza and pasta and chocolate anything....so giving up sweets was HUGE for him.  But sounds like the division is already making a team!  And look we are too!  So proud of this 09/360!!

johnnasuzanna...thanks for sharing your letter with us too.   Glad your SR passed his swim test too.  Excited he said they get to write twice a week.  I will be lucky to get one letter a week, but I can hope for two!  If not, I will live through all of yours.

Thanks again everyone for sharing your stories and your SRs with us..

Thanks AJM mom and Jonnasuzanne(sp?) for sharing your letters.  I'm hoping I get one today.  Giving up sweets wouldn't be hard for my SR and the food must be great because he's used to my cooking haha. I won't be home until after 5 so I have to wait until then.
Received a letter today. It was actually 5 letters in one envelope. He hasn't received anyone's letters yet & sounded homesick. We're all been writing him, so not sure what the hold up is. He said the RDC is tough...a lot tougher than what they show on youtube! ha!
Got a letter today...can't really post any of it because they said not to put anything on here that would make it obvious who our SR is.  My mother and daughter got letters also.  He's not much on writing.  I guess it's questionaire time if I want any hard info!   I cried for awhile when I got it;is that strange?  It was really hard to read it.  I had wanted to hear from him for so long and it was just very emotional.  I didn't expect to react that way.
Am I the only I that didnt get a LETTER? :(
don't be down dimper1207....i'm sure you'll be getting one soon and that your SR is good and thinking of you! will be praying for your letter!
I'm so proud of our guys!  I'm sure everyone will end up getting a letter soon and if not I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on as much as my SR tells me.  Keep strong guys!  Only 35 more days!!!!
It's really nice to see some activity on here since our sons are all together.
dimper1207...praying you get a letter soon!  Our group is growing, so glad we can join forces to support our SRs.  Look forward to meeting all of you.
Still no letter----You think with him being the Yeoman I would have 5 letters by now!  :(
