Information from RTC Site:  http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/faq_family.asp

Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum. The graduating recruit is responsible for identifying those individuals to be placed on the access list. Please coordinate with your recruit via letters regarding who will be on the access list. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS.  All visitors must have valid photo identification. This requirement includes children (school ID, Social Security card or copy of birth certificate). Please be aware that security may deny base admission to guests NOT on the access list if they are not accompanied by a guest who is on the access list.

Active military personnel, retired military, and veterans do not have to be listed on the access list to attend. They must show proper military ID and must arrive with someone on the access list or walk in. They do not have to be in uniform.

If you have more than 4 guests who wish to attend, you have 2 options. The first option is to write to your Recruit and ask him/her if he/she has a buddy at BC who does not have 4 guests coming and see if that Recruit can put the extra guest/s on his/her list and then make sure you know the name/s of that/those Recruit/s and the Division number. (If the buddy does not pass, then the guest/s would have to go to the Visitor Center.) The other option would be to have the person/people go and go to the Visitor Center and possibly get to go in after everyone is seated--some do, some don't depending on the number of divisions graduating and the number of people attending who are on the list.

The extra guest/s will have to accompany someone who is on the access list to get on the RTC and have valid ID of course. The ID does not have to be a photo ID, especially for children, a birth certificate or Social Security card will work. Place the gate pass on the dash of the vehicle where indicated and have the IDs for all people in your vehicle, the car's registration (or rental agreement), and proof of insurance ready before you enter the gate.

I am updating this for clarification purposes. Not all veterans have military ID. If the veteran does not have valid current military ID, then s/he would have to be put on the access list.

Where did you find the information about active/retired military? Does military ID guarantee them a seat, or just access to RTC? My boyfriend plans to list me, his parents, and his brother as his four guests, but his uncle (who is retired Navy) would also like to come - would he still have to wait at the Visitors Center for a seat?

This information was provided by the RTC (a very wonderful person in the Public Affairs Office) on the RTC facebook (clickable link) site.  If his uncle has a valid current military ID, then he is able to go into PIR after checking in with you and does not have to wait.

Oh, that makes things so much easier (assuming his uncle has ID or can get it in the next 6 months). Thank you so much!

Can active duty siblings attend in uniform if they are not on the list?

Yes.

Okay. So, I'm on the list for my boyfriend's PIR. All I need to bring is my License to get in? Is there any rule against what type of camera that can be brought in? Are we allowed to bring bottled water or anything like that to drink during the ceremony?

I'm sure you have received your answer long ago, but in case someone else has these questions, I'll answer.  You need to have a gate pass to get on base (print from http://bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp within 11 dys of PIR) or walk in and yes, your driver's license will serve as ID.  You can use whatever camera you choose, but remember that others are wanting to see as well, so be courteous in your use and pay attention to what those in uniform tell you.  Yes, you can take bottled water into the Drill Hall to drink/sip while you wait, but will probably want to put it away during the ceremony itself.

Can someone tell me if children under the age of 12 still need to be listed on the SR's access list?

No, they do not.
