He called me from his cell phone and it lasted 31 seconds but I did receive his box today.  I miss him like crazy but I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Navy.

We are in Nebraska and the call came in around 9:00 p.m.  I see PIR on several posts, what does that stand for?  We are writing letters already, just waiting to mail them.  From my understanding, he will want letters...alot!  He is my oldest son and the first child to leave home.  I was sad to let him grow up, but I'm ok now.  He makes me so proud!  He is 18, graduated high school in May.  How about your daughter?

New Moms Stop Here

On the right, just underneath themember photos, you'll find a number of pages. If you go through all of them, you will be up to speed on what PIR stands for, a idea of what goes on the next 8-10 weeks. We have videos up for you to watch. Take your time. Go through all the links. This information will always be there. So you can go back to the New Moms Stop Here group any time if you can't remember.

Dang BunkerQB, I should have told her that, but I totally spaced it out.

Yes Carrie, go to the New Moms Stop Here group.  They are awesome.

carrie - Pass-In-Review (PIR) which to civilians is Graduation from boot camp.

You might want to look at this page too:

http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/faq_family.asp

To give you an idea of what is doing right now, go here and look at P-days:

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ctratemoms/forum/topics/boot-camp-...

Lastly, you posted this in Boot Camp Forum.  If you look at the very next thread, it is called "PIR (Pass-in-Review).

You may want to join New Moms Stop Here and check out the Pages and Discussions there.  Once you know your SR’s PIR date, go to GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation) and click on the date and join the group for that.  Two other groups you may wish to check out are Boot Camp Mom's and PIR Reference Information.

My son also got to BC on the 20th and I got his box yesterday. Have yet to receive a form letter, but when I called his recruiter he gave me an address. The division number is 001...anyone else have a SR is that division?
If his PIR date is 11/18/2011, join the group, PIR 11/18/2011, to connect with others who have loved ones training with your SR.

My son also left Sept 20th for RTC..  I am anxiously waiting on the form letter to come with his graduation info.   What field is your recruit going into?

Hey newbies, if you comment on a Forum Discussion but can't find it because a few days or even a few weeks have passed and you want to go back and read the comments, here what you do.

  1. Click on MY PAGE tab on the menu bar.  This takes you to your personal page.
  2. On the left, just underneath your own photo/icon, you'll find Blogs Posts, Discussions, Events, Groups, Photos, Videos. Click on Discussions, a list of all yours comments will pop up. Just scroll back to the one you want.
  3. On the same column, you'll find the Forum Discussions which YOU have started. How is this useful? Let's said another member knew I had started a discussion titled Group: Listed by PIR Dates but can't find it. Assuming she/he and I are friends, she can always go to BunkerQB's personal page, scroll down the left and see the titles for all the Forum Discussions that I have started.
  4. In the middle section of your personal page, summary of latest activity, your profile into, ad-ons (like music) and comments posted by other members.
  5. Remember if a member has set her profile to PRIVATE, only friends can view the contents.
  6. I always check my personal page at least once at day and typically every time I log on to N4M.

Good luck to everyone. Be patient. Hang in there.

My son left on Sept. 21st. We are in Maryland. I got the same 30 second call as everyone else but at 2:15 am. Got his box 1 week later but still no letter with the address and his division. Anxious to hear how he is and find out when PIR is going to be.

You may be in the 11/18/2011 PIR group...could be the one before this one also.

Here is the link to the 11/18/2011 PIR group:

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir11182011

If that is not the correct one you can easily just join the correct PIR group.

Boot Camp Moms is a good one also. Your PIR group will be the place to connect directly with the moms in your daughters training group.

Here is the link for BC Moms:

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms

Actually, most of those who left on Sept. 21 are in the 11/18/2011 TG, but if it is another date, once people know their SR’s PIR date, they can go to GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation) and click on the date and join the group for that.
