While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I will add that for 6 months we were consistently told the 28th is her ship date ,the 27th her arrival at the hotel date. And then, a call midbreakfast asking her where she was because TODAY is the day??!?!??!?!?? Good grief.... Poor kid didn't even get to eat before her dad dashed her off to the hotel. SO.........I'm off to, hopefully, catch her.

I'm so sorry that happened that way!!! Talk about a wake up call to all things Navy - - just when you think you have everything all planned out - - - wham!!!
Hope you got to see the swearing in and have a moment to share before she leaves. So sorry she missed her favorite dinner and last minute visits with family!

Oh my gosh Dianna, how are you doing? I remember that empty feeling. Aubrey will do great. I got a call from Olivia this past week. It was so good to hear her voice. You both will be fine. My thoughts to you out west. I'll send good vibes to Aubrey from "down lake" in Chicago.

Somehow it's a comfort to know you are just across the lake from her.... I'm glad you heard from Olivia and all is going well. I'm sure it will for Aubrey too. Now that I'm calming down from the craziness of earlier today, I'm going to bed so I can get to MEPS by 8am as to not miss anything else!

Lisa, I'm hoping to make it tomorrow morning. I've got a hotel room just down the hall from her. We had a short, quiet dinner around 8:30 this evening. I got down here about 7 - fastest drive from my house to San D ever! lol She is pooped from all the rushing stress this morning but excited about finally being here and moving forward. We are NOT happy with how this turned out. But, if this is the worst of it - we'll count our blessings.
I'll post tomorrow how that all goes. Maybe we'll be granted one more day if she doesn't actually fly out until Wednesday.

Diana welcome to the NAVY! lol They have a knack of always changing things so get used to it. We are here for you and anytime you want to vent, feel free. I hope you were able to see her swearing in, I missed that part and it still bothers me. I hope you had a good recruiter too. Ours was great, he never told white lies or withheld information. He was straight up and at the meet & greet at the Ramada before PIR as we parents swapped stories I found out that mine was straight up with us. A lot of the other parents said they had told their sons things that weren't true or didn't inform them of various things. Luckily every mom of a female sailor said that their recruiter was honest too. I had gone to visit him a couple weeks ago and let him know how Jess was doing and I thanked him for being honest and it meant alot as we were not in the dark.
Can't wait to hear about your day. Diana by the end of bc, you will officially become a part of the club, we are NAVY MOMS & NAVY STRONG! stay in touch.

Thanks Janie! Aubrey is tucked in her room trying to get some sleep. She'll be up at 3:30am to prep for and head over to MEPS. I won't be too far behind so I can catch the swearing in. Things are calming down. Gotta let it go that we didn't have that last relaxing day at home........ I'm just down the hall from her so that is good enough for me right now...

Hi Everyone,
Made it in plenty of time for Aubrey's official swear in this morning. I arrived at 8am and got to sit with her and a couple dozen other 'kids' until 10am when they brought the Air Force, a few Navy, and an Army depper in and turned into enlisted recruits. It was a short and sweet ceremony. Very few families there. That made me sad. They said yesterday was a huge group of kids, about 65 with NO families, wives, etc there at all. Wow..... The staff at MEPS were wonderful - warm and a great sense of humor. They work with these young kids every single day and have it down pat. Made me feel better.
A is doing well. Tired. A bit nervous but not too. She had some more paperwork, debriefing things to do so I took myself back to the hotel by way of shopping therapy ;-) Now, I'm going to chill out and write her a letter to read on the plane for tomorrow. Since she is not officially flying out until then, I have one more evening with her!!
All is good on this end. I can't thank you all enough for the invisible support. I can't talk to anyone at my school - they just don't get it at all - and they aren't inclined towards the military either so it makes for a lonely place for someone like me. I am grateful to have this forum. You all make me feel NORMAL! lol

So glad you got to see her swearing in. I remember my daughter's like it was yesterday. Never got to see my son's :( I like the idea of writing a letter for her to read tomorrow!!! Wish I had thought of that!!!!
Enjoy your last night (for awhile) and sleep well!! Tomorrow will be a hard day!! I so understand your loneliness around the people you work with. I could be in a crowded room of people and still feel so alone!! Sending your daughter prayers her way and hugs to you!!!!

I am so happy that you were able to get to see Aubrey's official swear in. When Olivia was sworn in, we were the only family. I thought that sad as well. Anna is so spot on, tomorrow will be tough.
I just checked the 10 day forecast here in Chicago, I was so excited to see Oct. 6 and Olivia graduates on the 7th. Home stretch now.
The beginning seams like an eternity and now looking back, its gone by faster then I thought it would. I think it will be equally as difficult knowing she either has 24 or 48 hours after graduation to see her family (depending if she is a grad and go). Then our times together will be precious and few.
Hang in there. I'll be thinking about you.
