Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Oh they make them where tighty whities or granny panties for the girls. My son is a boxer guy. I think they have to earn wearing their civies & underware in A school. My son told his sister to tell Mom (Me) to stop sending the questionaires, he thought they were goofey!

They can change to their own underwear as soon as they leave the RTC. Underwear don't count as civies so they don't have to wait to Phase up to wear their preferred type.

It doesn't matter. My Sailor was just home and he had several colors--more gray, navy, and black though. I wonder what he'd think if he knew I was discussing his underwear. LOL

My son would turn quite red I'm sure, but he asked me to bring white and it seems they don't make the kind he likes in white - or they only come one in a package with navy and black ones. Whew - now I know what to buy so I can get it all washed and ready. At least SOME of them will be white. hahaha.

My Sailor had boxers and boxer briefs--he was strictly a boxer guy before leaving. He didn't have any white ones with him, but maybe he would need white ones for his Dress Whites, which he didn't bring home--except for the places that never switch to Dress Blues (Hawaii, for example), the fleet will be switching to Dress Blues in the next couple of weeks, some next week and some the week after.

Does anyone know if they can have their own "real" running shoes during A school? Maybe this is one of those things that should go in the first care package...

I have no idea, my son had packed a bag with stuff he wanted, but he never answered my questions in a letter so I figure I will take it in the car to the hotel and he can pick out anything that he may be able to take on the plane, The rest I will bring home and mail to him at A school.

Yes, he can if he wants them. Ask before sending them due to space and that they have running shoes.
