He called me from his cell phone and it lasted 31 seconds but I did receive his box today.  I miss him like crazy but I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Navy.

Blah...I forgot to edit it when I reposted...thanks for the catch lemonelephant! I'll edit it!
:o)
My Daughter left for bootcamp on September 27th. I received my 30 second phone call at 10:29 P.M. that night. I received her box on September 30th. I am about to go crazy not getting to talk to her. My son leaves October 24th for the Navy also. I guess nothing can really prepare you for this. I have always been a stay at home mom and never known what it was like to not be able to talk or to see them. I know she said she would call in 3 weeks. Does anyone know what day you normally receive that call? Can they get to call earlier? Any comforting words are greatly appreciated :)

If that is not the correct one you can easily just join the correct PIR group.

Boot Camp Moms is a good one also. Your PIR group will be the place to connect directly with the moms in your daughters training group.

GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation)

Click it and it will take you there.

PIR groups are listed by "PIR", then the date  and then the TG (Training Group) information.

My son went on the same day from San Diego i got the first call from him on Sat morn lasted 5mins 23sec he was sad not sounding too good i got the first letter on Mon yesterday it was mostly the forms they send but he had a small paragraph on the back i cherished and held on to every word he wrote how short it was he said he had 6mins to write dad and i read it like 10 times :) and i sent him 4 letters that same day. It's oonnn now :) we mom are strong we have to be strong for our kids God bless.
Don't forget the save the letter - has the password to print parking pass. I recommend scanning it and saving the file on your computer as well.

I was glad to read your post. My son wrote a few lines on the PIR info I rec'd today and he tells me he hates it and wants to come home. I'm telling myself its only been a week and he's probably exhausted. Hate feeling so helpless and out of the loop. I want to drive up there and be with him and go thru basic with him....wouldn't that go over great? lol

You're right....moms have to be strong
