OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I am guessing all of your sons are MM? Just FYI in case you see some stuff posted here that your son is not experiencing... don't worry- each rating has a slightly different program. My son wont finish A school for 6 months as an ET. I think the EM and MM A school is 3 mos... so depending on the ratings, not all kids will go through this program at the same speed or will have the same test dates, etc.
This site is still very helpful b/c it gives me good info and helps me know what to ask about... good conversation starters. thanks!

I am glad you are staying with us. Yes MM school is only 3 months. When my son was in Enlisting and at BC, he thought he was going to be an EM since he has 3 years of college toward an Electical Engineering degree and 1 1/2 years experience as an electrician apprentice. But, the needs of the Navy was for him to be an MM. That is ok, I think he will like it better anyhow. Hopefully. All I care about when he gets deployed, is that he likes what he is doing.and he is happy.

My son is also a MM in what I believe is this class. I don't think he is having an easy time of it. We are working on trying to get his car up to him. He has expressed feeling somewhat islolated. He does not drink either coffee or alcohol which I think adds to his isolation. He started doing QL (?) last weekend which seems to have improved his spirit.Has anyone heard anything about A school graduation?

From what I have read, A School is a small ceremony and not many families attend- so they probably don't pass on too much info. The ceremony not to miss is the graduation after power school. I will cut and paste this info a nuke student wrote ...

I want to let you know that I am an ET3 currently going through Power School.
I understand you want to see your son Brandon during A school graduation. I also wanted my parents to come to, but they couldn't make it. I was glad they didn't come because A school graduation last like 30 mins its not a spectacular event at all. I wouldn't go to the A school graduation, and save your money for the Power school graduation which is huge and is usually staged outside. With the captain giving a speech. yeah sure A school you get petty officer but your not a nuke yet! Power school is when you can call your son a Nuke.... but if it not a burden to get there, I am sure your son would love to see you :)

Sorry to hear your son is having a rough time. My son doesn't drink either. Says he's like one out of 2 or 3 that don't. He entertains himself playing online games with his friends from home and that seems to be helpful. I keep trying to encourage him to get out and socialize but he's an introvert by nature so doesn't do that much. Trust your son to grow in to the situation and find his way. He can do it. Sometimes all we can do is be supportive and let them find their own way. Hard to do as the mom, I know!

wish I new weather any of our sons know each other, are friends or hang out together! My son, Colin isnt much of a drinker either, will have one or two now and then but doesnt like to feel like crap the next day. He also spends his limited free time gaming and going to the gym. He is a very outdoorsy type kid, so also likes to ride his bike on the trails. Guess he found a 16 mile trail on a plantation down there that he said is really cool!
His manditory study hrs finally got reduced, so alittle more time to do the gym thing, which really helps reduce the stress!
Guess they have another test this morning, hoping all your sailors do well!
Also he said that A school grad is nothing big, so not to worry about coming down for that, my understanding is that he grads Nov 18th, hoping to come home for Thanksgiving!

I've asked my son about whether or not he knows your son Amanda, but as all they use are last names he has no idea what people's first names are. Due to security we can't use last names here either so I'm not sure how to see if we can find out. Spencer had a mountain bike but we sold it when we moved cuz he didn't foresee a need for it. Biking on the trails sounds like fun to me, not sure if Spencer would like it or not.
He said they have qiuzzes every morning that don't toward their grades but are just to see what they remember and/or need to review. Apparently all the tests that count toward grades are scheduled and they are well aware of them in advance.
He also said they don't get any liberty for Thanksgiving other than the weekend so we won't be able to have him come down. Not sure if we can get to the states to see him then or not. We may not see him until Christmas. :-(

We are retired and living in Mexico at the moment. Yes, Spencer said everyone passed, we Skyped last night because I had sent him a GIANT tin of Popcoropolis and he called to say thanks. He was underweight and VERY ill when they arrived at A school and now he's gained 18 pounds! He passed his PFT so clearly he's completely recovered. We talked for an hour and a half.
