We're heading to our Petty Officer's office tomorrow afternoon for last minute meeting.  Then we head to Shreveport; will take son out to eat -- he has be be back by 9:00 p.m. in his room.  We're spending the night and going to the swearing in Tuesday morning.  I'm surprisingly very calm.  I think after it's all said and done, I'll go into a deep regression of some sort - LOL.  No, I've been trying to prepare myself and this website has been AWESOME in keeping me updated and answering my questions.

We live in Nacogdoches.  Anybody in the area who would like to get together just let me know.  I go to Tyler quite a bit.  I would love to know there's a support group around somewhere just to get together and visit, support, etc.

Navyformom.com is AWESOME!!  Thanks to the person/people who got this started.  It has saved my life.  I will forever be indebted!!

wranglermom, I so identify with your feelings.  After waiting for and dreading BC for 6 months, in the last couple of weeks I just wanted it to happen.  Not that I wanted my son to be gone but I wanted the process to start so it could be done for all of us!

I just sent my son off to boot camp and can't seem to stop crying....it helps to write him but, it still hurts....We took our son to Dallas.  Booked a room at the Crown Plaza which is where our son stayed.  Took him out to eat and then stayed with him during his processing at MEPS.  He seemed to fit in he would go and talk to other people and knew what he needed to do.  That made me feel better.  I was calm throughtout the process untill we started heading back home----then, I list it.  Cried like a baby. LOL still crying.  Just washed his clothes he had on this weekend and cried--putting them up.  i used to get so mad have to turn his pants in-sid-out but, you know what I loved that I had to do that today....set the plates at dinner last night set 5 instead 4...I know its going to get better I keep telling my self that.  will be so glad when I get to hear his voice again.  He called when he landed and said he would call again in about 3 weeks....3 weeks needs to hurry up....i keep telling myself that when he goes off to school for that 14 weeks...he will be closer and I can call and talk to him everyday..plus we can see each other on the computer that will be easier....wish though that they could call at least once a week while in boot camp.  Kenny has 3 brothers at home and they sure are missing him...i am always glad when they get in form school...makes me take a little different look at doing house work and things like that instead of doing things with my kids.  one day they are 8 months, 8 years and then 18 and gone...sorry to be so sad and things....just feeling very sad right know.... good luck to you and your family.  Sending prayers your way.

Cubmom, my son leaves on Monday, I have not started the tears YET. I know what you mean about them growing up so fast. He is my youngest and the last to leave not to mention the only boy (he has 3 sisters). I know it's going to be really hard next week. Knowing there are other moms going thu the same helps

My boy left in October 2010, and I can assure you it took me a long time to quit crying.  Just let the emotions happen, and you'll learn to cope.  A must do is to go to graduation.  It's a magnificent event, and your boy or girl will be thrilled you're there to support them.  Our sailor has been home twice, but just won't clean out the infamous room.  We'll be selling the house and downsizing, so my husband and I are working at this also.  I finally believe he doesn't want to sever that last home tie.  So, I'm in the process of taking all 75 teeshirts, upmteen pants, keepsakes, etc.,  and packing them in space bags and boxes.  This project generates tears.

My son left MEPS October 5th but was accompanied by a female heading to BC also.  I am in Rusk.  He's in Ship 03 DIV016.  His PIR is 12/2.  My son is going into Aviation and will be in Pensacola for A School.

Our recruiter didn't even tell us that we could have gone to MEPS to see him off.  He was sad because the girls family was there and we weren't.  A very depressing start for him and me.  I share your depression being away from my son.  He's my first born and he's never been away from home.

I'm with you.  I feel like a stalker on this site.  It's become like my daily bread.  I have to get my scriptural fill of new info daily then I can rest. LOL

I finally quit crying at the drop of a hat about a week and half after he left.  About the time that I got his box.

Hi, Wrangler Mom! I joined this group too!
