OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I received a letter from my son dated the 11th and he was on SIQ also with 102.9 fever. He's always short on details, which is upsetting, so I can only hope that lack of news is good news. I guess there's something going around there...

Two weeks until graduation, I know I am excited. We get plenty of letters but I have still only received one phone call. I guess that is good considering those who are getting calls, are not getting good news. Hope we all get good calls soon.

So I haven't had an update on my son; however, I am glad to share some of his conversation but please remember this is second hand so I might not get it all accurate. The Division was set to do fire fighting training either today or tomorrow and it sounded like they were looking forward to Battlestations next week. It seemed a little early to me, but what do I know. My son was on light duty or got put on light duty but was still head of laundry up until this morning anyway. His recruiter is going to monitor his PIR. If he misses a week they will hold him back a week, but if he only misses a day or two he may still graduate on time. The recruiter will notify me if asap if the PIR changes. My SR got about 15 minutes to talk to his girlfriend as the medic/dr. loaned him a phone this morning. He has been running low on stamps, envelopes, and paper so I have been shipping a little at a time. Everything else seems to be going okay from this end of things. Just saying lots of prayers and hoping for the best. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. He's going to need them to stay with his group.

Got a letter today..thought I'd share. Keep in mind...it's the Navy, the only constant is frequent, unexpected, and sometimes dissapointing change. My SR said:
1. The I'm a Sailor call will come between October 25th-26th, Battlestations are the night of the 25th, he said they will get time to call afterwards.
2. Their division received the ship, division #, scholastic, athletic, and clean compartment flags, they went for the marching flag the Tuesday after October 6th, whatever that date was.
3.They got their pictures taken in their dress blues.
4.Dress warmly. Despite what weather.com says, it's cold, especially at night.
5. They cannot have their personal belongings until they are at the airport, if they are leaving GL for A school.
6. He was very sick with a fever of 103, and spent a day SIQ. He said all of them have been sick, some worse than others, some tolerate it and push through, some are sick longer.
7. His closest friends are: R. C. from some small town in Texas, R.C. from Fayetteville NC, J.I or J. from Bel-Air CA, E.O. from Bacaville, CA, and M.C. from Philadelphia, PA
8. They are counting down the days, just like we are!
9. He has gotten all the letters, card, pics, and calling cards. He has been using the self addressed stamped envelopes and says it does save time. The letters are taking about 3 days now to get there, and the letter he dated Oct. 9th, I received in east PA today, Oct. 14th.

Thank you KimberlyAnn for that awesome update. I too realize that the Navy can change things around, yet really enjoy hearing from the other parents. Lots of prayers for healing in their division seems to be the thing most needed at this time.

I received 3 letters in today's mail. Okay, I received 2 questionaires and one letter. He sent me his first medal for framing. I almost cried from being so happy, proud, and emotional. On the back of the letter he wrote, "Taylor says thank you for the question papers." I hope that Taylor's parents get pleasure from these!!! Have a great weekend everyone! 13 days until I climb on that plane, 14 until I get to hug my Sailor!!!
