Luckily I'm from new england so i'm prepared for any weather! lol I'm just hoping it doesn't snow or have bad weather bc that airport is notorious for canceling and delaying flights due to weather.
OMG Sadams, not snow yet....too early!! I'm from NY and still not sure what clothes or outerwear to bring and wear!!   Getting so close...so excited!!
my SR is staying at great lakes too! do you know what they are getting for liberty that weekend? my SR still didn't know last weekend when i talked to him. Did your SR say anything about it? I thought I'd have a lot more info by now lol silly me.... my SR put down San Diego, Virginia, and Washington (this is a random one we never talked about) but that doesn't mean we'll get any of them but I'm kinda hoping for washington right now.

Just checking in before I leave for work...I love watching that clock count down!  So hard to believe it's coming up so fast.  It seems like just yesterday that he left.  As for the weather, I assume it will be cold but not too bad since it's still early in the year.  When we lived in Michigan years ago, it wasn't too bad at that time of year, and snow didn't usually start until early November.  My 11 year old is very resistant to the idea of long pants; I can't seem to convince him that shorts really won't cut it.  I seem to have had children that are just as stubborn as I am.  Guess who will win this one, though.  When we are there, look for the kid in shorts, haha.  I can buy it but I can't make him put it on.

Hope everyone has a great day!

you can pack for him tho ;) lol

I received a letter this week also but in my letter my son was asking me to bring an all black backpack, the letter was dated Oct 6. I read earlier that they were issued to the Sailors. "help"!

Just got a letter, not much info in it.  Seems like it was written before the last one I got.  Only 10 days to go, hoping the days fly by now!!
OH and I just checked!! GATE PASSES are available for download!!  YIPPEE!!!

Just got a letter, mine doesn't say much either.  Dated 10.10.11 and 10.11.11.  Said they got extra liberty on 10.10.11 due to the holiday.  They did march a few hours that day, said he shined his shoes so well he could see his reflection in them.  Can we saw Drill Inspection??  He found out he will be a Nuke MM, which will make his grandpa so proud.  My dad was a regular MM in the Navy 45 years ago.  He said they took their group and individual pictures on 10.11.11, but said they did not get anything about ordering them.  Did any of your SRs say how they order the pictures.  I read over the Photo discussion page, but it only said they had to order and pay for them in bootcamp.  My SR thougth the order form would come later, but was not sure.  He sounded up beat and is counting down the days!

Me too.  They said they order them when they look at the proofs.  So that is good, I was a little worried he had missed the opportunity...but guess he was right about it being a few days later...Don't tell him he was right and I was wrong, he will get a BIG head. LOL

Uh...9 days, we are in single digits now!!  Let the countdown begin.... SOOO EXCITED!!
I saw this on our FB division page and thought I would share.. One of the SR girlfriends got a call last night for some quick info, here is what she said................SR got a quick 11 min phone call last night.. he needed some addresses of references. but he told me they start the firefighting training today and they do the gas/confidence chamber tomorrow. :/ just thought everyone might wanna know to keep them in our hearts and prayers even more tomorrow!!
