I wanted to start a group with others that have Nukes that are at the same stage of the program as my son.  Looking forward to many discussions!

My son did well on yesterday's test. He also passed yesterdays PTA and got an outstanding on room inspection. Today, they will be having uniform inspection in their dress whites. All who do well on all of this will phase up again. Only 6 weeks until they graduate A school! Is anyone going to go? I know it isn't a big ceromony. I won't be able to attend but was wondering if anyone else was. I would love to beg for some pics.

My son is not much of a drinker either. However, since arriving to GC, the has gone to "The Dive" more than I would have thought he would. I think he has been much more social than he was at home. He use to be a big gamer, but I think he is trying to stay away from that right now. He wants to stay focused. He really can get engolfed in the games. He didn't take the x-box with him. We will see how long that lasts.lol

Spencer is being more social as well but is underage and will not drink before he's 21.  He isn't a teetotaler, he just has no real desire to drink.  He went out and bought an xbox though...lol.  Says it helps him destress.

Shannon, good thing he doesn't indulge in drinking as a minor. I hear that is one of the biggest reason's to get kicked out! There are lots of other better things they can do with their time anyhow. Alcohol is only going to increase chances of getting in trouble. I wish my son didn't drink at all, but I am happy he doesn't drink much. I am not against drinking, just afraid of the consequences they face if they have any alcohol incidences.

I know that when my son goes to Vegas to get his car and belongings, he too will be back to gaming.  His X box is in the same storage unit as his car.I do like the fact that he wants to stay focused. I also know he cannot resist x-box. As long as he doesn't get sleep deprived over it, he should be o.k.

He has talked to us about the mastings for underage drinking and being drunk on duty so he's aware it would be a very bad idea.  Hope when he does reach 21 he will stay aware that moderate drinking is fine but drunk is just a waste of time.

He seems very focused on doing well but all gamers run the risk of having it consume their time.  We talk about it, but he wants this so much I think he'll be fine.  He's always been the kind of kid that when he has a goal he set for himself he will go after it singlemindedly.

Like all moms I worry about him but honestly I'm so proud of all he has accomplished so far I trust him to do the right things for himself.

Had a nice visit with my son home this week-end. Even though he spent most of his time in the garage with his buddies changing out his exhaust system! Had his mom under the car helping him at 6am saturday morning! Muscles ache were I forgot I had muscles! LOL!

Other than that it was great seeing him and his old highschool buds hanging out and catching up!

Did any of you hear from your sailors? My son called today and said that they announced their Holiday leave's today. I don't know if he meant everyone or just our class. Can't wait!  I do wonder, however, if they get one after they graduate too. Does  anyone know?
Not sure about leave after there graduation...hoping so, cause it would be nice for him to come home for turkey day. But yes, Colin said yesterday that he got his dates for christmas leave, and low and behold they are the same days I have off from my work!

Wishing our sailors good luck today on their test! I am sure they will all do great! Only one more month to go until T-tracks.  I know we had heard from some of our sailors that t-tracks might b 4-5 months, but from everything I read, I think it is likely to only be 2-8 weeks. We will see!

I talked to Spencer last night and he says he's ready for the test and will call me with the results.  I hope you are right about 2-8 weeks.  Several months seems like long enough to get rusty on the things they learned and that can't be good.  Where are you reading about the time frames?

This is a random question I know, but is there any way to find out if our sailors can leave the country on their Christmas leave?  I am trying to figure out if we can have Christmas here in Mexico at our retirement home, or if we need to return to the states to spend the time with him.  The T-track people won't talk to him till he's on T track.  He's supposed to ask the SOPO today, but he forgets to do things like that sometimes.  Everyone needs to make plans pretty soon before all the inexpensive flights book up.  Plus I need to arrange for a house/pet sitter before they are all booked if I am going back to the states.

Good luck to all our sailors today!

I heard from my son, he did good on his test! Yeah!!!!

Shannon, I don't know for sure, but I think he may be able to get a special chit to leave the country. I read about other families going on cruises. I don't think our sailors can ask their SLPO's since when they graduate, they will have new SLPO's. I think they have to wait until they get assigned their new SLPO's to get chits. If I am wrong, let me know. We also need a special chit but not for the same thing. Good Luck! Not long now.

son also did well on the test, called at lunch yesterday, happy he did so well, then called again last nite, I guess after they went back from lunch they were put back on (time out) quiet time, due to some students being rowdy the nite before during study hours! Oh well...they will learn!

I haven't talked to my son today but I bet he's ticked.  He hates quiet time and wasn't part of the rowdy makers.  Apparently a few failed the test...wonder if the rowdy and the failing are related?  I'm glad your son did well on the test too.  Not to long now and they start Power School.  One step closer to the fleet.
