Hubby is going AECF, i know the school can last quite some time and all that. his recruiters said his next duty station after school will be 16 months long. What are the chances of him going underway right out of A school? do they even do that? or do they get a bit more training before deploying?
Any and all answers/comments greatly appreciated!

NavyWifey0410... Is your hubby going to be ET or FC. Can make a difference. Both ETs and FCs go to "C" school after "A" school. ETs do not get deployed until ALL schooling is finished. FCs sometimes are different...or at least I have read to that effect in the past.
If he's ET you can figure on two years from time he went in to time of deployment...give or take some depending on holds, etc.
If you ask this question on the AECF forum I am sure you will get answers quickly. That is what that forum is all about!
NavyWifey0410...you can join the AECF forum I just mentioned here:

It's the BEST group for ETs and FCs !!!
After all the schooling, most of the ETs and FCs go to a ship, as their sea/shore rotation begins with sea duty. They are assigned to a ship for about 3 years. I have no clue why a recruiter would say 16 months, that isn't realistic. That's about how long A school takes! Perhaps that is what he meant?
Whether or not the ship deploys right away, or even of they must go meet the ship while it is already out to sea, there is no way to tell. It could have just returned from a deployment, or go into dry dock for maintenance. Don't worry about it just yet, there's a couple years of training before you reach that stage.
Sea Shore changed...ET's will go to sea for 48 months and FC's to to sea for 60 months than they can to go shore duty, both for 36 months, before they go back to sea again for the same about of sea time as before.
would i get to see my husband at all during those 4-5 years while he is at sea? unsure how that works.
Ashley, sea duty just means they are assigned to a ship for those 60 months. The ship will be deployed at times, around 6-9months at a time sometimes more or less and they do short trips, maybe a week or 2, or a month or 2. It all depends on the needs of the Navy. When the ship is in port your husband will be home at night except on duty days which for my son is every 6 days. My son has been with his ship about 2 1/2 years and has deployed once for 8 months. He thinks they may go out for 1 more long deployment before he is done in 2 1/2 years and some short stints, but it changes frequently. He is an FC.
