Not sure where to start with this so here it goes !!!!!! I moved to Bremerton Wa. from San Diego . I have been here almost a year . My Sailor Is on the USS John C Stennis . They have had a lot of time out at sea since  we got here. We moved here the 16th of Dec and he pretty much left right after that. I never got the chance to meet any of the other Navy Wives or Girlfriends. So here I am in a new state with no friends and no family . I take my kids to school come home and go to the ymca that is it !!!!!! I dont work (well I work I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids) so the social interaction from that is not there either. So not only am I alone with out my Sailor I am alone with no family or friends. just a bit over whelmed by it all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand where you're coming from. I moved to Virginia from Florida and my husband has been gone since we got here, but I've had no trouble making friends because I put myself out there. I can guarantee your husband's ship has an FRG (Family Readiness Group) which is always doing something, even when the ship isn't at sea. My FRG hosts monthly play groups for kids, and the moms can interact while the kids play. We're also hosting a Halloween Social for the kids since the ship is gone Halloween. They have monthly meetings, and that's where I met my two friends that I have here now. Take a class at the Y and talk to the women in class. You said you have three kids. Are they school? If so, let them invite a friend or two over and talk with the moms while the kids play. There's lots of ways to make friends. You just have to put on your big girl pants and get out and do it. Sorry if that sounds harsh. That's what my mom said to me when I whined my first week here about not having any friends (:

I have no Clue about FRG!!!!!!! does it matter that we are not married?? is it something I can still be involved in even though we arent????

Thank you so much for the info. I will be sending a e-mail !!!!!!

I have had a similar problem.3 kids and can't really meet friends :/ I go to FRG meetings and such, have reached out via the internet and now have 1 friend lol.I have had many people say they want to get together to then break plans and never follow through.Honestly at this point I have pretty much given up,my 1 friend has also had similar problems herself with people being flaky.Good luck to you,Jess has some good ideas.
Going to the FRG meetings without being married is something you should ask the FRG president. I know that our FRG doesn't allow it, but others might. I would ask. The worst that they can do is say no.
I do think it must be up to each individual group.Ours allows other family members etc.But yeah it would be best to ask first if you are unsure :)
Our family readiness group allows all family they will just email your sailor and confirm that you are legit :) and not someone just adding the group or trying to get info. Also reach out to the ombudsmans! Ours are super helpful and willing to help fiancees as well! you can also try meeting ppl on the ships fb page I know I have met quite a few wives that way from my husbands ship!! :) there are quite a few ladies on here from the Stennis.. try going back through old discussions and you can find some other ones! :)
Yeah, well, it is what it is. Doesn't really matter if you agree or not. And I get where they come from. Some of those guys go through a new girlfriend every month. Are we expected to update our e-mail lists every time there's a break up? It might be unfair to the girls who have been dating their sailor for five years, but if we let her partake in meetings and socials, then we have to let all of the girlfriends partake in meetings and socials. So to keep it from being complicated, our FRG doesn't allow girlfriends.
Anne- Ours allows other FAMILY members, just not girlfriends. Ditto goes for the ombudsman. Unless they have a kid together. But that's just a whole 'nother web of detail. I only serve on the executive board for the FRG so I can't quote to you what the ombudsman policy is.
