I was wondering if anyone knew of any good liberal arts colleges near the naval base in San Diego? I go to school in Cinncinati currently, but I am going to eventually move out there and I am looking for a good school to transfer to.

Just wanted to say- I'm from Ohio!! :) But I'm going to school at Clemson right now. Hope you find a good school to transfer to! :)
Thanks! Hope all is well for you too!
My sailor and I are from San Diego :)
I assume you're working towards a bachelors degree? You might have to make a bit of a commute, but there are a lot of colleges out here. San Diego State University is one of the best, but you have to have a pretty high GPA to get in, and alot of the programs are impacted, so good luck getting classes. Also University of San Diego. There are also a great many private for-profit colleges, although they tend to be very expensive.

Do you know about out of state tuition? Also, if you are working towards an associates degree or still finishing general ed classes I would reccomend attending a community college. There are more locations, more class time options, and tuition is usually cheaper.

For a full list I would reccomend going to collegeboards.org and using their "college matchmaker." you can put in what degree you want, how close you want the college to be, tuition amount, etc and they will give you a list of all the ones that match.

Does California still do one year of resident tuition for military spouses?

I picked up quite a few courses at Mesa Community college.

If you're going to be married, definitely check out what Anti M mentioned.

Some schools will (or have to) give you in-state tuition to military spouses if their spouse is stationed in that state (or area). I looked it up when I was applying to schools my senior year, and all the schools (3 in ohio, 2 in sc) I applied to had that little clause in their tuition information. You just have to inquire about their military benefits.

I am working on my bahcelor's yes, I have about a year and a half to 2 years left of classes. I have just about all of my gen-ed's completed. I know a little bit about in-state and out of state tuition, but I probably would not have a choice. Thanks so much for the info! It was extremely helpful! All you ladies on here rock! How do you like living out there? I am going to be coming from a smaller town and I know SD is nothing like the city of CIncinnati, so it's a little nerve-racking for me!

I love San Diego personally. I'm close to the desert, river, mountains (and snow), and beach. The weather here is beautiful the majority of the time, and there's always something to do. I highly recommend going to Balboa Park at some point. They have free museum days, and its just gorgeous!

It can be expensive though. And having a car is a must. Public transportation is usable but slow and can be confusing.

As with any new city make yourself get out there and meet new people and experience it for yourself! :] I'm not sure when I'll be joining my sailor but feel free to message me if you need friends when you get out here. :]

Hi! I can't really help with colleges, but I am moving to San Diego in December! When are you moving out there?
It's not exactly set in stone as to when I'll be going. I am going to finish out my semester here in Cinci first and since we're not married yet it is going to be a little bit of a wait. That's exciting though! Where are you living now?
I live in Florida, I'm marrying my fiance in December! He is going to San Diego to finish school in November and after we get married I'll move out there too! Well keep me in mind for when you do move out there :) Since we're not married either he'll be getting his A school orders as an unaccompanied Sailor so we'll be doing the move ourselves... maybe by the time you move out there I'll be able to help!
Sounds awesome!! And congrats!! Maybe I'll see ya around out there!
