Ok my son has been in DEP since March, now we are on the final stretch and now this feels so real. I am getting the phone card, stamps, $20, wallet size pictures....so I think we are prepared, but emotionally, I am getting real nervous, anyone else leaving on this date? He goes to MEPS the day before and stays in a hotel, how do I get his "hotel" clothes and toiletries...ugh! All of a sudden I feel lost.

I dont know if the holidays will make it easier because its a busier time, or harder because they will be gone.  Jeff's recruiter told be he would be going to A school right after graduation, i'll just have to wat and see.  Enjoy the next few days, next week will be difficult but hopefully this site will help.  Just glad to meet up with someone else who has a child leaving the same week.

My son is going into CRT, I dont know that much about it.  Jeff also traveled a bit this summer. I know I'm driving him crazy, I hug him all the time.  We have 2 more days.  My dad is taking him up to his recruiters on wed. He is taking his cell phone so should have some contact Thurs.  Its going to be a long week-end. Do you have any other kids?
Hopefully they will keep you busy. I have 3 girls, 2 are married (also steps) and 1 in college. My house will be so empty with Jeff gone. How are you doing? Jeff leaves today at 4 then on to Chicago tomorrow
15 day leave would be awesome!!!!
I can't believe it. Tomorrow is our last full day with him. He goes to MA school in Texas after PIR. I hope we get a day or two before training
I don't know how to friend people, so please friend me so I can stay in contact with you all who have sons going to bc this week. Thank you

I dont know how to friend people either, I had a request from TansMom (thanks), when I click on your name I do not see a place to send request.  I'm sure someone will answer.  Would like to stay in contact with other moms.

Me to knew to this site just sent my son to BC he is on a plane to his new home for 8 wks, It's nice to know we are not alone.....Michelle
Havn't heard anything from Kyle, he left his phone home didn't want to not get it back. he left from Philadelphia airport this morning he does have a friend who is also going to boot camp who is traveling with him, gives me some comfort. I am using all of you as my time line, was wondering where everyone is from.

My son left yesterday from the local recruiting office to the MEPS office a few hours away from here...then suppose to fly out today for Chicago.  His orders state he reports on 10/25/11.  Just wondering if my guestimate is close to when PIR will be - 12/23.

Count down begins...

Thank you Tracy.  I posted in another forum too.  It is apparent that I am not patient enough to wait for that form letter! lol
My son flew out one year ago today. Watched him take his oath. What a wonderful ride you all are starting on with your new recruits! Just a note about PIR. The group that arrived in GL this same week last year was split into two different PIR's. One on the 17th the other on the 22nd. We were told so late the airfare/tickets were way too expensive for us. So if you plan on going to PIR get refundable tickets AND know that it is pricey to fly during that time of year.
