Hi all!!

My husband moved to Norfolk a few weeks ago on orders, and my baby boy and I will be moving there in a month. He signed us up for base housing, and we were offered a 2 bedroom apartment in Castle Acres. Does anyone have any input or opinions on this place? It makes me nervous saying yes to any apartment when I know nothing about the area, neighborhoods, etc!  Help!!

I'm fairly new to the Norfolk area myself, but when I was researching the area I googled Neighborhood Navigator. There it will give you an idea of what the neighborhood is like based on an address or zip code. You could also try base housing in Little Creek which is about 20 mins away from Norfolk. Although my husband received orders for Norfolk we applied for housing in Little Creek since the area seemed better and we have school age kids so a good school is important to us. Hopefully this helps and good luck!

hey, I live in Castle Acres, love it! Its about 10 min drive to the base (which eqauls about a half hour 45 min drive in the AM for your husband because of traffic) The immediate area is okay- Its alll military housing on this side of Terminal blvd Castle Acres, Norwhich manor and Queens way. It borders Camp Allen so I like taking the dog for a walk annd feel completly fine. This cant be said for all of norfolk but I like where I live. I feel close enough to everything, malls, base, beach ect. I live in a 3 br with just my husband and the dog and its more than enough room for us. The 2 bdrooms come in I think 2 or 3 different floor plans? Regardless the 2 brs have bigger yards then the 3 brs if that intrigues you lol. Ive never actually been in the 2 brs but I can send you pics of my house and can prob get you some on the two bedrooms exteriors, just message me!

They also have the floor plans for everything and pictures on th elincoln website. If I where gonna choose housing for a family of three I would go for Norwhich manor or Castle acres, Stay away from queens way! It floods like no other lol. Willouby bay is nice as well but a lil further drive.
